I always thought of the New Orleans area as a

"rough place", but man you would not believe the number of gunshots I have heard tonight. I just hope my tickets are still in the car tomorrow morning.. Maybe I should go get them, but I'm kind of afraid to go outside.

as the most violent cities in the US. People always talk about Chicago, but it isn't close to as bad.

You haven’t spent much time in Detroit. Try again. It’s my hood. You want to grind gears about a bad place to live, try another place cause I have never heard gun shots and I lived in City Limits for 3 years.

land of opportunity, shark-free beaches, and you can buy a mansion in Grosse Pointe for next to dirt.

Seriously, I had an opportunity to move to Battle Creek a few years ago (would have likely lived on the lake between there and Kalamazoo). Turned it down but it was a hard decision.

People who've never lived in a Great Lakes state don't know what they're missing.

My mother grew up in Royal Oak.

Grandparents lived in Farmington Hills when I was young. They all relocated to the Lake Orion area a few decades ago.

I've not been up there in a decade plus since all my grandparents died, but the family says that Detroit is being revitalized and they now spend a lot more time in the city that they fled from decades ago.

As a Ford account rep in automotive industry. And once you cross city limits of Detroit it's like a 3rd world country. Get real here. Even the metro residents crack on Detroit.

I took a road trip there a long time ago. Nine of us went in, three made it back to the base. Sounds like things haven't changed.
