Very interesting stat....

May 14, 2020, 11:18 AM

New Jersey (Lockdown)
1085 deaths per million

Sweden ( No Lockdown, schools open, restaurants open, etc.)
343 deaths per million

Only explanation is that people in Sweden are still dying from heart disease, strokes, cancer, accidents, diabetes, etc....

"IDIOT POSTER OF THE MONTH SO FAR...GWP-- You have won IPM Award for your failure to completely comprehend a clear post & then choose to attack someone who points out your ignorance. While you are not yet in the same No Class Catagory as deRoberts, ClemTiger117 & Tigerdug23, you are getting closer to the Sewer Dwellers." - coachmac

you should have the TNET copyright for that.

Sweden has about 25-30 million in airline traffic as a whole nation. NY/NJ Port Authority has 50 million in international passengers as a whole.

Just keep in mind that there are a lot more stats involved.

See, you said “keep in mind,” therein lies the problem.

I for one am glad you are stopping. You are one of the most ignorant posters ever. You obviously think very highly of your own opinion, unlike the rest of us - RockHillTiger

I'm in favor of the Swedish approach (even though there is a case to be made that it wouldn't work here because Americans are notoriously uncooperative even when we trust our government and media, which is NOT now).

But the Swedes are still getting hit hard. They are up to #6 in Fatalities per Million, and all of the nations above them have far more urban populations. Just a week ago they were even with Ireland at 261; now they're at 346 while Ireland has 'only' risen to 310.

Sweden has dropped to #15 in total fatalities because Turkey and Mexico are surging with India up to #16. All these countries have larger populations with inadequate health care in comparison to Sweden.

As I said last month, the merit or folly of Sweden's approach will be seen best in hindsight. They are trying to expose as much of the population--at least for the city of Stockholm--as they safely can in the first wave, with the expectation that the rest of the world will suffer from recurring waves for 12-24 months while they only suffer minimally.

We can hope they're wrong while still admiring their approach.

They haven't destroyed their economy like so many others, but no one country can prosper alone, either.
