You're right. He had warned me when we went out that if we caught them, they would stab you if they could. Nice guy named Carlos.

Yep, on steroids

That was the greatest day of fishing in my life Spud.
And I've fished since I was a little boy.

Believe it or not, we hooked 11 Sailfish and I landed 9 to the boat.

Here's another one I caught that day.(I'm the handsome one in the Clemson cap.)

Very nice....Your tea leaves are a lot bigger than mine...

Apr 29, 2020, 8:21 PM

and like Havilah Babcock says, "Men who hunt and fish make better husbands than those who don't"....Needless to say, Havilah hunted and fished. He was probably the greatest Coot I never had the pleasure of meeting. If you want a great book to read during this COVID crap, get " The Best Of Havilah Babcock"....It is mostly about bird hunting...and by "bird", I mean quail.... more aptly called,"Buhrds" in the South. It is a collection of short stories. I assume he wrote many of them while on the payroll of Field and Stream...One of my favorites was when he talks about the train engineer, a friend of his, would stop the train near Havilah's house, pick up Havilah WITH HIS SHOT GUN AND BIRD DOGS and let him ride 10 to 15 miles out in the country and stop the train and let them all out so they could hunt all the way back to the house.....CAN YOU FRIKKEN IMAGINE THAT IN TODAY'S SOCIETY? Just hop on a train with a shotgun and a pocket full of shells......and then just hunt FIELD AFTER FIELD alllllll the way home.

Havilah hunted ducks near me on Lake Marion. He had permanent blinds which did not exist for anyone else. He also hunted quail near me in Clarendon County. He was truly a lover of the hunt for birds.

I fully agree that was a heck of a trip; however you have a long way to go to reach the high bar that Ole Spud has set. Ain't none of your fish pictures sideways!!!!

Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It's almost never for them.
