Who is your #4 in this scenario?

Nov 26, 2018, 2:52 PM

Who is your #4 team in the following scenario?

Alabama defeats Georgia in the SEC Championship.
Clemson defeats Pittsburgh in the ACC Championship.
Northwestern beats Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship.
Texas beats Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship.
Washington beats Utah in the Pac 12 Championship.
UCF beats Memphis in the AAC Championship.

Who is your #4 (assuming Alabama, Clemson and Notre Dame are locks)?

As a point of reference, the FiveThirtyEight Playoff Predictor (https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2018-college-football-predictions/) would have playoff chances at the following:

UCF = 33%
Georgia = 26%
Texas = 18%
Washington = 18%
Ohio State = 6%
Oklahoma = 1%
Michigan = <1%

If UGA can stay within one possession of Bama. I could see them just replaying that matchup. UCF by default otherwise.

if bama wins by a small margin...they will pick uga

if bama wins by a large margin...they will pick uga in your scenerio.

ucf doesn't have a Scar's chance in death valley of getting in.

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”

UCF eventually deserves a look. Granted I agree they play weak teams eventually at 26-0 they deserve a look still. But I think with Milton hurt they still find a way to be left out by the committee.

If I got to choose

Nov 26, 2018, 2:59 PM

I think I’d pick Michigan then Washington. But if I’m guessing what the committee would do I guess UGA

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

UGA due to UCF QB being hurt.

Nov 26, 2018, 3:00 PM

That would destroy the "eye test" portion IMO. Which I would agree with.

If Milton was healthy, then I'd say UCF should get in.

^BINGO^

UCF is done.

I posed this same question Saturday.

In this scenario, USF will raise holy h3LL if they don't get selected.

I can't see UGA getting in, b/c Bama would stay at 1, and UGA would be no better than 4, which would have them playing a 2nd time in a row. No way that happens.

UGA and Ohio state would have 2 losses and lost their Conf game, and all the conference winners would have at least 3 losses.

I think it's gotta be USF, but, even then that's a difficult choice as will they be looked upon unfavorably b/c of the loss of McKenzie Milton.

I don't think it should be UGA. If its UCF, then might as well give AL a bye. They won't even be challenged by UCF with Milton out.

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's a committee nightmare.

Nov 26, 2018, 3:16 PM

I'm guessing they go UCF. It's still tough to go undefeated even with an easier schedule. If they had Milton they'd def be in under this scenario.

Put UCF in. Let Bama take them behind the woodshed and show that if you aren't in the Power 5, you don't belong in the playoffs.
