ESPN needs to offer a paid streaming option to regain the

Dec 1, 2016, 5:26 AM

Revenue they are losing. I understand that they have exclusivity rights with cable providers, but I think they are in a position of negotiating power.

I live overseas, so I don't have cable service now, but if I lived in the US, the ONLY reason to pay for cable or dish or any other traditional TV subscription would be to watch live sports. I would happily pay $20 per month to have access to ESPN content. WIth that, iTunes, over air TV and NetFlix, my family and I would be set. The content that is run on nearly every other cable TV channel is complete garbage. There used to be a time when I enjoyed Discovery, History Channel, etc... Their content is dumbed down drivel now.

Yep. That's what it is. That's why people have quit watching college football.

Actually USC is relevant to the Pac12 network.

There are a lot of reasons for this but the one that stands out to me is the lack of on air talent. Pardon the Interruption is the only show left that I like the on air talent. Even Mike & Mike has gotten bad when they include people like Ryan Clark, Jamele Hill and Trevor Matich. I've actually started a game when Jamele Hill is on air, if it takes her less than 5 minutes to incorporate racism into any conversation, I take a drink. I'm normally drunk by noon everyday.

service that's standalone.

Cable packages value ESPN family at $8 or so. There's no reason ESPN couldn't sell WatchESPN subscriptions for $15/mo.

With AMC, Comedy Central and adult swim, it's all the TV I care to watch when you include Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Dec 1, 2016, 12:12 PM

for $25/month I have every sports channel I want (and several I don't like all of the PAC12 network) except for FS1. I get FS1 for free by using a friend's cable login info.

their liberal stance on many issues and the sophmoric way their sports cent anchors act and present themselves doesnt help either. Bozos like Coachman and Berman are some of the worst. I'm down to only watching games

"Liberal shows need our money"
"Well when they continue to push their non sports agenda people get sick of it."
"their liberal stance on many issues and the sophmoric way their sports cent anchors act and present themselves doesnt help either."

Guys, we're on a sports website and you're trying to make this about politics and liberals. Isn't this the exact same thing you're complaining about with these sports channels? Every thread on here has a conservative bashing liberals, sometimes out of nowhere.

This is mainly about people cutting cords and moving from cable. Instead it's an opportunity to voice your opinion about those voicing their opinions.

Anytime I watch something other than games on ESPN ...

Dec 1, 2016, 8:52 AM

... it reminds me of why I watch nothing but games on ESPN. I've cut the cord. Eff 'em. I get SlingTV for the ESPN networks from August through January. Costs less than $27 per month. Sling is a bit clunky, and may not work for everyone (can only view on one device at a time, for example), but for my viewing tendencies, it's optimal.

I keep Sling through the spring
