...Not sure about this, but my mind was wandering.

With all of the emphasis that the CFP Selection Committee has seemed to put on victories over Top 25 teams, and kind of ignoring beating a Top 30 team (at least publicly) or a Top 50 team, etc. Is there some sort of weird benefit to beating GT by 1 point in OT dropping them to 25 v. thumping them by 42 and knocking them way down.

Obviously I know these things don't matter as long as we keep winning and I want to thump GT regardless, but in future years if we were sitting in the Top 8 at this point, or for any team sitting close this year, it is an interesting question and I would like to hear the committee talk about this.

the committee would allow for the possibility that a great team could stomp a pretty good team on a given day. That may be tough for a 100% human ranking system, though.

Committee only taking two things into consideration.
1. Are you in the sec
2. Are you not in the sec

Unless they were addressing just the final polls and the top four I don't imagine you'll ever know about the real criteria.
