Thank goodness for Trump and the rich

Feb 25, 2020, 12:04 AM

The rich basically support America.

I hope they pay an ever lower percentage in taxes in the coming years.

America is a dying nation. Thank goodness for President Trump that he has stopped, at least temporarily, the downward slide of America. Hoping he can put 1-2 more Supreme Court justices on before he is gone. That will help. A little.

Take a GOOD look at the Democrat party today and who it is comprised of and what they espouse. Exactly....

Sadly, though, America is moving towards socialism. That is inevitable. Do the math. Demographics bring just one reason why.

The cry of, “Gimmie my free stuff” is strong now. Eventually, it will win out. Then, a Civil War.

I encourage everyone to prepare for what is coming to America. Arm yourselves. Trump may win in 2020 and I pray he does. But, after Trump, it is over.

Prepare now. It is coming...

CBS news says the US income tax system is “supposed to be progressive.”
Oh really. Is that what it says in the Constitution?

You think maybe these Berkeley tools might have a bias?

Socialists have scared people with socialism, and the fact it has never worked anywhere it's been tried. Fox News hasn't said anything that Sanders hasn't said himself already.

Re: Thanks to the Trump tax cuts for the wealthy

Feb 25, 2020, 12:45 AM

Are you even familiar with these economists? Do you fully understand the basis behind the arguments on both sides of the fence here? The tax is not Income tax rates. Income Tax is progressive. Anyone and I mean you included can lower your tax burden in the same way the wealthy are depicted in this study. The opportunities are there for all. Take for example our great cross generational Warren Buffet who pays very little taxes compared to his wealth which is around $90 billion. He started a company that does not pay out dividends to the stock holders. His wealth and anyone that chose to invest with him is tax deferred. So his billions of growth in net wealth has basically never paid taxes and only when he sells his shares. Goes for most billionaires. All people have this choice but only the minority of those who wish to tighten their belt and invest over their life time starting at an early age typically can amass a fortune to skew the results but everyone has the opportunity. People in the US do not live below their means so they can invest. Is that my fault or your fault or Warren's ( democrat by the way) fault? People need to be economically responsible for their own future and not rely on the government. You each have a vote unless you are a convicted felon vote for change. We all have choices. Not everyone is entitled to make the same pay as it should be those that work harder and want to improve themselves have the opportunity to do great things in the US. Many of the wealthiest took great risk to make their fortunes which typically create jobs and improve the economy. The good they create can not only be judged on individual taxes. Bill Gates is wealthy and yet look at the amount of taxes are paid by Microsoft employees. Is this not a huge benefit to the country? Don't all studies are displayed to give a result of choice. Just be open minded.

This past week I visited one of my company’s sites in NC where the work force is primarily Mexican Immigrants. I was shocked to see that
some of them wore MAGA hats and the vast majority are Trump supporters. When I ask them why, they said they are making more money now than they ever have and their 401ks are growing like wild fire. These guys aren’t wealthy by far, with the average salary being around 40-50k, but they definitely recognize they are financially better today than they were 4 years ago.

I've been in business 26 years. My company is the smallest it has been since year 2. The last three years have been my best years ever. Most of my employees bonuses the last three years have been larger than the entire company's bonuses used to be.

We've been building industrial and manufacturing buildings that were just plain non existent 5 years to 20 years ago. Some of those jobs and businesses that we exported are coming back.

So I switched my browsing to tigernet to check out what happened at Clemson yesterday. Was surprised to see this post. When talking about taxes, just remember that roughly 50 percent of people (the poor) do not pay any federal income taxes.

tax each April, the Trump Tax "Cut" turned my federal tax payment last April to $15,500. I still received an $800 refund in SC State tax.

Thanks Trump! This year I have added a $700 extra deduction for all 26 paychecks every two weeks, just to ease the April 15th pain this year.

you need a new accountant

Feb 25, 2020, 6:24 AM

or you made a lot more money. Tax rates went down, that is a fact. If elimination of your itemized deductions caused an increase in tax of $15,500, then you have a lot of "stuff".

income from paying $1k in federal tax in April before the Trump tax cut to the year after, other than the tax cut.

I max out my 401K each year and give to charities.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There are no income brackets that had increased tax rates

Feb 25, 2020, 9:32 AM

using a tax attorney instead of an accountant is not a good idea.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I had a similar outcome.

Feb 25, 2020, 11:18 AM

Not a $15.5K outcome, but about a $5K payment in April, when it years past it was only $1-2K in April. Basically, what I found the tax cut to do was to eliminate all my deductions (except for teh standard deduction), and simply redistribute when I had to pay for them. So essentially, my tax bill did go up.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Did you accept that without doing your own investigation?...

Feb 25, 2020, 12:23 PM [ in reply to Amen, after typically only paying around $1-2K in federal ]

with no changes, there is no way your federal tax burden went up that much.

Absolutely the wrong board for political whining. Most folks come to Tigernet to escape all the nonsense we see and hear all day long. There are plenty of other places for you to whine about the rich getting richer; just don't make it here.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don’t normally chime in on this sort of stuff

Feb 25, 2020, 6:38 AM

But I feel like an offer a different perspective . By any measure I am a wealthy American and a business owner . I currently pay a lower tax rate my employees . However the overall amount of tax I pay is more than three times the amount my employees pay. If taxes were in the crease, say 10% on the wealthy, then I would pay almost 5 times more overall than my employees pay. How is this fair?

No one should confuse this republican tax cut with a “ Trump” tax cut. Any modern Republican is going to cut taxes for the wealthy, that is what they do. Trump is a deplorable human being and a tyrant, And if you support him because he put a little more money in your pocket, then you have no moral compass. Unfortunately his clown show is what the republican party wanted in 2016

Feb 25, 2020, 9:36 AM [ in reply to I don’t normally chime in on this sort of stuff ]

I too am a business owner. My salary is actually higher than any of my employees and that puts me in a higher tax bracket than any of them. At the end of the year, whatever profit is made is given out in bonuses that are taxed as well.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Feb 25, 2020, 11:38 AM [ in reply to I don’t normally chime in on this sort of stuff ]

Mother Teresa. They voted a billionaire in that hopefully wouldn’t be swayed by lobbyists. They didn’t want another politician posing for the camera, lining their pockets and family’s pockets with money. Sound familiar?

At the very least, they wanted to put a bull in a China shop and let the azhats helping run the country get a taste of their own medicine.
