I had a Bible study at my house and Malliciah Goodman came..

Jun 19, 2012, 9:26 PM

I'm sure a college student has alot of fun options but the fact that he chose a bible study shows the type of guys we try to recruit. He is very humble and loves God. I'm proud to know him! Clemson is lucky to have Mr. Goodman and he is a GOOD-MAN.

All In for All of the Right Reasons

Jun 19, 2012, 9:49 PM

Malliciah is hands down one of my favorite players on the team. He is one of the most polite guys you'll ever meet. I lived in Lightsey at the same time as him a couple of years ago. He had no problem meeting my family one weekend when they came to visit.
His character and faith make him one heck of a role model. Funny thing is that I'm seeing more and more players like him coming into the program.

The affect these quality recruits have on the field lasts for four years.
Their effect off of the field lasts much, much longer.

I'm glad that Dabo is building a good football program on the field, but I'm even more excited about where he is leading the character of the program.

PS: my main purpose of posting in this thread is to point out the fallacy that "Christians are good people." I find it funny that the OP assumes Goodman is a good man b/c he's a Christian and we all know that "being" a Christian does NOT mean you're a good person.

Sure, there are a ton of Christians that make Christianity look horrible, but the majority of them that I know think the Earth is approximately 7 billion years old. There are also a ton of Atheists that make Atheism look terrible. Those types of people, who attack people's beliefs or non-beliefs, or who make snarky remarks such as this, do nothing to set a good example of whatever they believe or do not believe in. As for Goodman, I'm glad he was attending Bible study instead of a kegger and I am glad his personal convictions are so strong that they would have him do something so boring, when he obviously has the opportunities to do much more fun and selfish things.

to say someone's a good man b/c they're a "Christian" when so many "Christians" are responsible for so much pain and suffering in this world.

and it is the OP trying to promote the "Christian" way with his original post.

OP, keep religion off the main board and on the R/P board.

That's all this is about. The banter with y'all is just nonsense to get both sides stirred up.

Now, about those dinosaurs, OP?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

dinosaurs

Jun 20, 2012, 12:53 PM

The Bible is not incompatible with dinosaurs. Some Christians believe in a young earth. I personally disagree with this view. I believe the earth is 4 billion years old, and I find the Bible consistent with that view.

You asked about dinosaurs. So if you're serious, I heartily recommend again that you spend five minutes on reasons.org. Search dinosaurs, and then measure and judge the evidence presented.

If you're asking a serious question, it's worth five minutes of your time. If you're being a doooosh, then it won't matter what the OP says.

Also, if child rape is really your reason for abandoning Christianity, do you also support the elimination of public schools? Children are more likely to be sexually abused in public schools.

To be clear, everyone should be repulsed by the church abuse scandals. But it is an irrational response to reject your prior belief in God because of the despicable actions of priests. Atheists / agnostics preach rationalism -- so I tell you, your decision to leave the faith for that reason is not rational.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't care what you or anyone else thinks about religion.

Jun 20, 2012, 3:14 PM

If he had said he had a pampered chef party at his house and Goodman came and continued on and on about how good of a person he was to come to that to support his or his wife's hobby of selling cookware, would you still be pushing this to go to some other forum? I think we all know the answer to that. You wouldn't have cared if it was about that and wouldn't be preaching (pardon the term here) about how this doesn't belong on the main board.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: But it is about a player ON THE FOOTBALL TEAM

Jun 20, 2012, 7:37 PM

It's pretty obvious that the only reason that he said that he was a good man is because he's Christian. In your example, his actions would have said a lot about his character.

Simply being a Christian doesn't make one a good person. After all, roughly 90% of prisoners are Christian.

Jun 20, 2012, 4:01 PM

I've read several reply posts about this topic. While it might need to go in another board I think there is some misunderstanding about Christianity. Christians should not think they are better than anyone but should be humble servants of Christ. Remember Christians are drawn to Christ because they recognize they are sinners and NOT PERFECT (not the other way around) and therefore need a Savior who can save them from eternal separation from a perfect GOD (also called Hell).

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I was a Christian, before I started gathering facts and

Jun 20, 2012, 8:30 PM

Now that's a good reason not to be a Christian.

I'm not a holy roller, but I remember saying to my grandfather before he died "why do you give 10% of YOUR money to the Church just so the pastor can have a free house and use it to buy a new Lincoln?"

He simply told me that he has complete faith in God an that he was doing his part to support the Church. You can't worry what other people do as long as you have faith.

As I mentioned before, I'm not a huge Christian, but to stop being one because of little boys getting raped and Jim Baker be a loser is just plain non sense.

There's been plenty of drug addicts, murderers and criminals in general that we're Clemson fans. So tell me, are you going to stop associating yourself with us? And stop being a tiger fan?

Luck had nothing to do with it. If you are a Christian then you know it was God intervening and nothing by chance or luck happens to Christians.
