If I wanted to boost my wifi in my house because my house is so yuge that spots of it run out of the strong wifi zone, what do I buy. Is it one of them there wifi repeter things?

Which is dumb, they have a 2-pack that's a router and a point - but I wouldn't recommend you get the point.
If I were you, I would buy two 1-packs of routers:

They create a mesh network. Only one gets the ethernet from your modem connected to it.
If possible, I would also use the output lan port from the one router connected, and run Ethernet to the other router, so it will essentially be running full speed from either access point.
You're also going to need to get some ethernet switches with this system, because a traditional router has a few lan outputs, these only have one.

attic. I accessed attic, drilled through a 2x4 to go down the wall, ran ethernets into hole. Went down stairs to collect wire. Huh, no wire in wall. The wire apparently made it halves way and hit a crossing 2x4 thus making it impossible to run wire without making a large holes in the wall to access the other bard for drilling through.

One is a mac daddy spensive router centrally located (expensive, especially if you have to run the coax for the modem, ethernet, etc......)
OR, best solution may be a mesh system. If you need massive bandwidth and stream a ton of 4k stuff, or whatever, the Netgear Orbi is the top choice. Get AX (or also called wifi 6) if possible. If you're an old fart, an extender would work fine, but it's slow.
TLDNR - Get a Netgear Orbi or a similar wifi6 mesh system. Make sure it's tri-band for full speed everywhere.

in the house. Kept the modem in wife's office, then ran ethernet to the top of my bar and added an outlet. You can barely see it up there. Moved the NAS there too. Thing blasts 5ghz strong throughout the house. And it's future proof. Have an old extender in the sunroom that blasts a strong signal down to the creek, so whole yard is covered.
That way when we build campfires, and drink bourbon on cold nights, I can stream tunes, or a football game.
