Something completely different:
I've noticed, as I'm sure others have, that we have some pretty talented writers here on the Tigerwebs. Have any of you written or attempted to write a novel, memoir or perhaps a collection of short stories?
Yea or nay, how 'bout a list of a few favorite works? What say ye?

I wrote a poem that was published

Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice From what I tasted of desire, I hold with those who favor fire But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say for destruction ice is also great, and would suffice

Where did you get it published, if you don't mind my asking? From my experience, if you're an unknown and not writing about white guilt or Billy has four dads or the like, publishers won't even give you a sniff.

mine is kinda Robert Frost-ish and was published in the 1985 Calhoun Literary Review, An Anthology of Works by Students of Clemson University.
To my defense, I did not realize that it was a racist publication at the time.
Trees have grown where there were none, Time has changed the new warm earth, But only life has just begun To finish its journey beneath the sun As man approaches the newborn mirth. Trees have grown where there were none.
Wise men and innocent boys foolishly pun The deathly shadow who steals human birth, But only life has just begun.
Dreaded plagues and an ill pointed gun Drown the breath and tighten the girth. Trees have grown where there were none.
For only the stretch of time silences fun Where mountains are dashed along cold firths, But only life has just begun.
Indifferent soil shrouds a ton Of useless knowledge and and unused worth. Trees have grown where they were none, But only life has just begun.

Trying to remember the prof I had, was there a Dr. Holt in English?
Anyway, he always made us write our papers in class, so basically no homework. LOL. Black ink on loose leaf - anything else was an automatic F - seriously. But he was an easy grader, so I took my B and was a happy camper.
Yea, and BS here also.

In the letters to the editor section of the Tiger whilst at Clemson. But for the most part English was a gpa killer for me although one semester I had Laura Littlefield for an evening lit class and she played piano at one of the bars downtown so we met in the banquet room and had pitchers of beer during class. All that poetry crap made a lot more sense after a few.
Had a visiting prof from Texas AnM for technical writing and he was a bawl buster.

Real folksy piece on the good old days of Clemson football that should sell really well given how far we have fallen now as a program compared to the 80's. I'm a school principal and prolific message board poster now though so time is tough to come by. Anticipate having it out in time for people to buy for presents around Christmas 2028.
