I don't know what he's doing down there, but whatever it is,

Tanner at s.carolina sure has it rolling. Is it their recruiting? Does he just know how to push the right buttons and make the right moves with his players? Is it his assistants? Whatever it is, he seems to have it down to a max.

I really do hate to say this, but it would not surprise me if they won it again.

Considering Roth has struggled despite being 4-0 with 8 no decisions it surprises me too. We replaced our entire infield except first base. New catcher too. Honestly as a coot I'm surprised at the run too.

A few thoughts

May 5, 2012, 10:40 AM

1). Really good players

2). Good leaders

3). tanner tries to keep things low pressure

4). Chad Holbrook may be the best assistant coach in the country over the past 5 years and could b lading a major program himself if he wasn't happy and waiting for the right opening

5). Getting hot at the right time and staying hot takes a little luck

Anything can happen in baseball

Regardless of what many Tiger fans admit, Tanner is a first class coach. He was before he became the head guy at USCar. and he would be anywhere. Coaching makes a big difference in any sport and especially so in baseball because there are so many small things you can teach to help your team be a success. Recruiting helps but a solid coach can win with just a few quality players ... and a few real pitchers!

He's really good at what he does

May 5, 2012, 11:36 AM

He's a much better coach now than Leggett. He's built a great program down there and has a better AD to work under than Leggett does. Plus, he's recruited some of the better players in SC really well and kept them around.

Oh puleeeese. Give me a break. They won't make it to Omaha, much less win it all again.
