As much as he berates them. He's always chatting them up..... Sometimes yelling at them. But he gets away with it by chatting them up.... Smart strategy if you ask me.

I admire his success and respect his coaching abilities. I hate on him because he's a complete #####, and this doesn't change the way I think about him...he did what any coach in that situation should do. Wait until next spring when he's berating the officials with his team playing against Clemson, to the point where he finally gets a call in a pivotal moment. Then come back and tell me how much you love the man.
And by the way, I really like IJ Review, but I wish they hadn't posted this crap.

that same advantage by constantly berating the officials.
If they allow it and are persuaded by it, then might as well use it to your team's advantage. It's unfortunate that's the case.

I like coach K. He is all business. He has an abrasive personality. He changed basketball. I think anyone who tries to diminish his accomplishments is simply letting emotions over ride reality.

Look back to his earlier days at Duke. When the street ball mentality was dominating he proved that a disciplined offense was actually superior to fast break street ball.

I disagree, this is the epitome of arrogance. It is Krzyewski's God complex that make him feel that an opposing team needs or wants his persinal congratulations. He thought he would grace those lowly Mercer players with his presence and accolades, thats insulting. By the way I think he is the best coach of this era, if not of all time.

he has also been in locker rooms at fsu, providence, eastern michigan after losses. He also called a group of student writers for duke newspaper into a locker room and cursed them out and berated them for not writing a fluff article on his team.
The visits to locker rooms does not make up for the fact that he is a pompous a$$.

Along with a reputation for clever and intimidating cheers, the students at Duke University relish their inspirational role in the performance of the school's basketball team. Mike Krzyzewski, the head coach, has gone to considerable lengths to foster that involvement, often lauding the students as his squad's ''sixth man.''
But an angry, profane locker room lecture by Krzyzewski to 10 invited guests from the student newspaper's sports staff now threatens to undermine that relationship. Even the popular coach's subsequent acknowledgement that the matter should have been handled differently has not altogether quelled fallout from his outburst.
''People on campus were surprised he would act like that, he would use profanity like that, he would act like that toward students,'' said Craig Whitlock, the editor of the student newspaper, The Chronicle. ''I think it hurt Coach K. somewhat.''

There was the time he invited the staff of Duke's student paper to Cameron Indoor Stadium to speak to them in front of the team. From the New York Times:

The get-together was held Jan. 15 after a late-afternoon practice in the school's 50-year-old arena, Cameron Indoor Stadium. Besides the 12-member basketball squad, several assistant coaches and the team trainer were on hand as Krzyzewski cursed and raised his voice while upbraiding the student-reporters for coverage that ''degrades my basketball team.''
Once he had spoken his mind, in comments that included scatological and anatomical references, and had given the largely mute reporters a chance to reply, the forthright Krzyzewski believed the matter was settled

In 1990, Krzyzewski was upset that a student reporter graded his team B+ at midseason. Coach K later gathered ten staffers from the paper in the locker room, becoming upset with the staff. One of the reporters tape recorded the meeting, where Krzyzewski was quoted as saying:
"I just wonder where your mindset is that you don't appreciate the kids in this locker room. I'm not looking for puff pieces or anything like that, but you're whacked out and you don't appreciate what the *expletive* is going on and it pisses me off—I'm suggesting that if you want to appreciate what's going on—get your head out of your ### and start looking out for what's actually happening."

I don't feel like my Tiger brethern hate on him because he is succssful, but thwy see him assuming the post held by Dean Smith. I can't disagree with my friend who have tired of his act, and instances like the end of the Tournament and the clock in Durham, point to aomw favored status

UNC has a sense of entitlement that far exceeds that of the Dukies. Living amongst tarholes is at times unbearable. I almost feel bad for NC State fans and graduates that get blatant insults - not just in sports but in general - from those arrogant punks. Its pretty unbelievable. Their attitude toward Clemson pretty much sucks too.
