Ironically, the way Ole Miss has played, our SOS has increased by dropping them off I believe...Syracuse would have beat them last year

With the choice of playing Syracuse and Ole Miss, I take Ole Miss 10 out of 10. Even if Syracuse would have spanked them, the bias and perception weighs better on our SOS.

I've been to Oxford and the women at Ole Miss are more than reason enough to pick Ole Miss over Syracuse.

Not about Ole Miss it's about losing that spot for decent OOC games....this isn't about one series....

You have the ACC's nine game conf schedule to thank for that

done(agreed)and not only because of the 9 conference games, but because of the four team play-off at the end of the season. Nobody is going to schedule an OOC game that is a potential loss. The strategy would be Wofford, Indiana, Furman, USCe and win conference. Go undefeated and make the top 4. With 9 conference games we drop one of the OOC games (not USCe) and pick-up a conference match-up. From an excitement stand point I'd rather play a conference game versus a not so appealing OOC game. Good OOC games will be the thing of the past.

This will hurt our chances come playoff selection time

due to strength of schedule being a heavy factor in making the Top 4. Having the Auburns, Georgias, LSUs, Alabamas on our schedule would help.

and I agree with that too, but the first course of action is going undefeated. Not many teams go undefeated in a season. How many last year? I'm thinking one. If we go undefeated and win our conference with wins over FSU, VT, GT, and USCe, that will put us top 4 for sure regardless of our OOC games. SEC does it every year. They rely on their conference games and schedule terrible OOC games. We aren't far behind that thought pattern.

Our best bet to make the playoff is to play a tough schedule

The last time we went undefeated was 31 years ago when the ACC was even weaker than today. To run the table, we would have to be extraordinarily lucky. The SEC can afford to have a weak o-o-c slate because of the perception and reputation of the SEC being so good. We have what's considered to be a weak conference. We cannot afford to have a weak o-o-c slate, like the SEC can. Consequently, we are NOT close to the SEC "thought pattern" you allude to.

Memphis replaces us on Ole Miss's schedule. No word on who replaces them for us though.
