How do y'all feel about buying stuff right now?

Apr 30, 2020, 9:15 AM

They gave us this stimulus money to keep the economy going.

But, there are people at Walmarts, Amazon, etc and truckers working in unusual? conditions to keep the supply chain going.

Do you feel guilty about buying stuff or do you feel like it's not my problem.gif?

Are you spending more, less, no difference?

Apr 30, 2020, 9:57 AM

Just like I did with the $600 W. Bush gave me in 2008.

As far as spending, I've definitely upped mine a bit. We get take-out from restaurants we like to help keep them afloat and we give generous tips for deliveries. I've rationalized some purchases I wouldn't otherwise make by figuring I'm saving money on gas and what not. During a severe economic contraction it makes sense to keep spending if you can.

Apr 30, 2020, 10:16 AM

Definitely have changed spending habits. Food, spending more, at least in the grocery store, but probably less overall because I haven't had fast/restaurant food in a month. $80/mo less on haircuts for 5 of us.

Bought a new router that I was going to hold off a few months on, for work. Thinking about upgrading phone too, again for work (supply chain concerns mostly). Have backups in place for everything.

Other than that, probably less overall. I know I put twice as much as normal into savings, even with those expenses.

Just blessed to still be working, albeit harder with maybe a drop of 20% in billings. I would literally be 100% if courthouses opened up and my barber went back to work.

Apr 30, 2020, 11:40 AM

The only problem with those units is that they use the "old" processors, and the G3 charts slow them down to be almost unusable. I currently have a 7610XSV and with any of the details turned up on the new charts makes the unit almost unusable.

I'm certain they do that on purpose to sell new hardware, kind of like Apple does with iphones.

200-600 f5.6-6.3 for $2120

The 70-200 is so versatile but the 200-600 could really reach out there and capture the squirrels like no lens I've had before
