PSA - LED bulbs from Duke

May 28, 2020, 11:13 AM

Duke Energy customers, buy your LED recessed bulbs from Duke for $1 each. Go to Duke Energy Savings Store.

Just procured a max of 36 bulbs for $1/EA that are normally $3+. Shipping was $5, spend $fiddy, get free shipping.

I've gotten the regular LED bulbs for free

but not recessed bulbs. If you want, they will also send out an Energy guy to do a home inspection and walk you through recommendations on how to save money. He brought a gift package also for free.

I've gotten several "free" packs of bulbs from Duke Energy

May 28, 2020, 2:35 PM

over the years, and I find them all inadequate brightness-wise. Get what you pay for I reckon. I can't stand dimly lit rooms except maybe in the den watching TV. When in kitchen or bathroom or dining room, I want it b-r-i-g-h-t. I need 75W or 100W output, not 40 or 60.

My choice bulb last few years has been these GE Reveal Bright Stiks. Compact, don't get too hot to touch, don't shatter, don't fail. I like the light they put out. They are expensive individually, though, but I stumbled upon a big sale on them somewhere and bought a 30-pack of them for $50 or so. Should keep me stocked for a long long time. I've had some for 5+ years and never had a failure yet.

I bought 6 small candelabra base LED lights for $.18/ea once

from Duke....even had a free shipping deal going on then.

didn't even have a use for them, but for $1.08 shipped, I couldn't come up with a reason NOT to.
