UNC had the highest RPI ever that didn't make the NCAA
Jun 1, 2016, 9:47 AM
|
|
But that also proves that RPI isn't the end all be all measurement. They were 4-6 in ACC series with series wins over Pitt, Duke, VT and ND. Their "top 50 wins" almost all came in series where they lost 1-2.
SC has a resume of a B student that took all average classes. UNC has the resume of a B student that got Ds in all of their honors courses and As in their underwater basket weaving classes. (I figured I'd use an analogy about classes and honors level courses to confuse both Carolinas.)

In my eye it's an indicator of how very strong southern college baseball is . The ACC/SeC stranglehold on the rest of the country is growing and is now excluding some pretty solid teams , like UNCheat . Any other year and UNC is a 3 seed at a regional in Baton Rouge or Columbus . It's tough , and he's right but what're ya gonna do?

the only issue I have with the tourney non-qualify
Jun 1, 2016, 9:54 AM

being basically the deciding factor is that the ACC only lets 10 teams make it. The SEC takes 12 teams in its tourney (they have 4 play-in games, where we have 2). UNC makes it in without question if the ACC used the SEC format.

The ACC got 10 teams in the tournament. They wouldn't have gotten another in with two more teams in the conference tournament.
I don't think any conference has ever gotten 11 teams in.

I think that depends on the outcome of the Tournament. If UNC wins a couple games and takes out a GT or a Duke I think 11 make it. If they beat BC then maybe it is still 10 teams, but either way unless UNC lost to a bad team in game 1 I think they are in the field.

probably not - but UNC would have gotten in over WF

or BC or somebody, because they had a #18 RPI. That's borderline #1 seed territory. It seems that UNC not making the ACC Tourney was THE reason they didn't get a bid. My point was that if ACC had a 12-team tourney they would probably have made it in.
and for the record - I am HAPPY UNC didn't get in. The hell with a TarHole.

stop giving a pass to a team that had 26 of 42 wins against 100+ rated teams.
Myrtle Beach High would have had 40+ wins against the schedule.
THE SEC has done in baseball exactly what it does in football -
play a decent in-conference schedule plus a crap OOC schedule,
and then let it's political clout take over.
If you're scared to play it on the field,
then even crappy Power 5 teams should step in front of you to the head of the line.
If UNCheat didn't deserve to make the tournament then neither did USuCk!
15-0... suck it Coots!

on the field, and that's what counts.
What you think and what you perceive don't mean diddly.
People like you put too much stock in their own opinions -
you think, and therefore you are. Whatever.
You think crap, and therefore you are crap.
If USuCk had played in the ACC, they'd likely have missed the tournament too,
because unlike the SEC, the ACC didn't have patsies like
100+ RPI Arkansas and Missouri to pad their win total.
That's right: USuCk was only 14-9 in the SEC against Top 100 teams.
And only went 5-4 in series, and unlike Clemson, lost series to teams outside the Top 25. Not so good, huh?
In the end, even the SEC homers at D1 Baseball recognized
that USuCk's schedule was the only reason they won 40+ games. Eff you...

Lmao. You are crazy dude! I'm just saying you can't say just because they lost to UNC and UNc didn't make the tourny that they shouldn't be in it as well. That is dumb. Now your starting to come up with some decent reasons. That being said a 40+ win team that is hosting a regional should deff be in the tourny. You saying they should not is idiotic. Idc how much you hate Usuck they are a solid baseball team and have been for years and years. You trying to say they shouldn't have made the tourny??? Are you out of your mind?

jus string the facts that UNCheat's and Clemson's schedule

The facts are we went 42-15 with the 19th hardest schedule. UNC went 34-21 with the 8th hardest schedule. 11 spots doesn't make that difference.
Congrats unc beat us on a midweek game. We once lost to Francis Marion in a midweek game and played for a national championship in the same year.

There are plenty of valid stats and reasons why SCar shouldn't have and didn't get a national seed. But 1 game against a UNC team has no bearing on that whatsoever. In MLB, even the best teams lose 60 games a season.

just said, UNCheat had better schedule than USuCk did,
and if the Committee wanted to exclude someone
then USuCk should have been behind UNCheat on that list -
like a lot of SEC teams.
Also said UNCheat would have had 40+ was with USuCk's schedule too...

You said if UnC isn't in then USuck shouldn't be in. Which UnC isn't in so your saying Usuck shouldn't be in. Either way the sec is a very good conference and Usuck did very well in it. They have 42 wins. They did flop in the tourny and I wouldn't have a problem if UNc was in and Usuck was a 2 seed. Tradition helps them too I believe to get the host. They are a good team tho don't act like they are not good. It doesn't matter the scheduale over 40 wins is impressive.

The Heels have a legitimate gripe...
Jun 1, 2016, 11:52 AM

...but it's not with the Capons.
If I had to guess, the selection crew was trying to figure out how to put the Heels in a region that didn't already have an ACC presence.
In the end, they just threw up their hands and picked Nebraska instead.

I personally agree with the thought that if you can't finish
Jun 1, 2016, 2:14 PM
|
|
in the Top 10 of your own conference,
then you don't deserve a chance at the National Title either.
The regular season has to have some meaning at least.
I just don't get why people give the SEC such a pass on its scheduling.
In the end, the Holes' coach is right:
UNC's schedule was better than USuCk's, and by a mile....
and there's nothing to say that USuCk wouldn't have been in the same shape record-wise
if they had actually played a meaningful schedule.

USuCk's OOC SOS was 140+
not the #19 the Coots want to suggest.
then they played 2 full series against SEC comp that was rated 100+ RPI.
Coots don't want facts,
they just want us to kiss their 2010/2011 Natl Champ rings regardless
what they're actually doing today.
