Based on his career, Cordileone's induction is long overdue.

Almost 60 years is a long time ...

I agree

It's hard to understand why he wasn't inducted long ago.

It could be just a simple as that he had never been nominated. In order to be considered, someone has to submit the paperwork for nomination. It's not very hard to do, but somebody has to take the time and make the effort. After a certain number of years, perhaps most just assumed that he was already in the HOF. Or maybe after all those years, his supporters had largely passed from the scene and later generations didn't know much about him. Anyway, for whatever reason, it's good to see him getting inducted.

I have been nominating Lou Cordileone for the HOF for the past few years, and the committee members apparently recognized my increasingly nasty comments questioning their competence. He was our only 1st Team All American over a 15 year period, and our most celebrated player of the 1950s. Many of his teammates and other players of his era were selected long ago, but he was continually passed over. I never understood it, and expressed my feelings with my nominations.

Thankfully, he has finally been selected for the HOF, and I hope he attends the ceremonies. He was a great Tiger.
