Is it possible for him to get a (medical) redshirt this year?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pretty sure you can only have one redshirt...and he had one

Aug 13, 2014, 2:17 PM

last year.

Re: Pretty sure you can only have one redshirt...and he had one

Aug 13, 2014, 2:24 PM

Not entirely true. I know Maryland's QB, CJ Brown I believe his name was, was a 6th year senior because of a normal redshirt, and then a hardship one.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Feel bad for Dye...

Aug 13, 2014, 2:27 PM

Doesn't sound good.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sounds like he is pushing it too hard

Aug 13, 2014, 2:33 PM

I'm assuming they are taking him all the way off it because he can't handle taking it slow. You can't rush a tendon injury. They heal when they heal and there isn't much you can do to speed up the process.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It is possible to get a medical redshirt after having already redshirted a season

Aug 13, 2014, 2:36 PM [ in reply to Feel bad for Dye... ]

Just not very likely. Regardless, this kid tore his Achilles, which is usually a year long(minimum) recovery process. To let him even sniff the field this season would be beyond irresponsible, not to mention could possibly threaten his future. Don't want to see him added to the list of athletes whom our medical staff have allowed to soon after injury.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dumb post!! So YOU have read all the medical writeups on

Aug 13, 2014, 3:33 PM

our injured players over the years and made your informed post about what our medical staff has or hasn't done correctly??? Year you received your medical degree??

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What's with all the ???

Aug 13, 2014, 3:35 PM

One is sufficient!!!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He just tore the tendon in February.

Aug 13, 2014, 2:39 PM [ in reply to Feel bad for Dye... ]

It's only been six months, about half of the normal recovery length of time. It doesn't sound bad, it's normal.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Chances would be slim to none***

If he missed this year because of injury

Aug 13, 2014, 2:32 PM

He could petition for a sixth year. It's hit or miss with those type of things, but he would have a decent case.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

... and that's really what he should do, either way.***

he has more than a decent case-- it would be highly likely

Aug 13, 2014, 2:50 PM [ in reply to If he missed this year because of injury ]

that he would be granted a 6th year when that time came if he can't play this year. He RS due to injury last year and if the same holds true then that is exactly what the 6th year waiver/rule is for. Both years have to be injury/hardship situations. Heck usually it's granted if a guy plays a game or 2 in the 2 seasons which they are injured.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree

Aug 13, 2014, 2:56 PM

One thing I do not like about this coaching staff is the willingness to push players back before they are ready. If it takes a year, that mean it takes a year, not six or seven months.

Poor kid can't catch a break. Hang in there man. You're going to get your time.

This is extremely disappointing

Kids got all the talent in the world!!

Sincerely hope we eventually get to SEE IT!!

Go Tigers!!!!

I hope to see it as well. Would love to see what he could do in this offense. Seems like a great kid and only want the best for him and our other young Tiger players.

I"m just afraid he may fall into that category of being one of those that just never sees the field. Hope that will not be the case

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I hope Tyshon does not become a Tony Steward. That would

Aug 13, 2014, 3:06 PM

be two wastes for two individuals who can play football. I hate it for them more than I do Clemson.

Re: I hope Tyshon does not become a Tony Steward. That would

Aug 13, 2014, 3:24 PM

i would imagine if you asked tony he may not say his career has been a waste. amazing the total bs you can read on this board.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What I am saying is that the guy has lost playing time due

Aug 13, 2014, 3:29 PM

to injuries where he would rather be playing. The ignorance of some people who feel they are always right.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonormyfavorange.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Calling it is a waste is to say that all the hard work Tony

Aug 13, 2014, 3:39 PM

has put in means absolutely nothing. Tony is going to hopefully have a great year this year which is due to the DETERMINATION and EFFORT he has put in.

Re: Calling it is a waste is to say that all the hard work Tony

Aug 13, 2014, 3:41 PM

thank you. could not have said it better. tony will play in the nfl. doesnt seem like a waste to me.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Peace...I think we are on two different waves here. I'm

Aug 14, 2014, 5:01 PM

just saying

Re: Peace...I think we are on two different waves here. I'm

Aug 14, 2014, 5:05 PM

just saying that I hate that we will only see the talent Tony has for just one full year (hopefully). I hope that Dye recovers from his injury and we, Tiger Fans, will see how great of an athelete he is. I'm not calling his/their efforts a waste just the fact if I was as talented as they are, not be able to play because of injuries. Example is Roscoe Crosby. I would have loved to see him live up to his potential on the playing field. Hope I make sense.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonormyfavorange.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Don't you think Tony would rather be playing than rehabing?

Aug 14, 2014, 5:09 PM [ in reply to Calling it is a waste is to say that all the hard work Tony ]

That is my point.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonormyfavorange.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm sure Tony always dreamed

Aug 13, 2014, 3:34 PM [ in reply to Re: I hope Tyshon does not become a Tony Steward. That would ]

Of being a special teams contributor for most of his career when he wasn't fighting off 3 knee injuries. That's what most 5* linebacking prospects look for in a career. Anthony has been doing it all wrong.

He will be 21 before 2014 is over.

Aug 13, 2014, 3:55 PM

I don't see him staying here til he's 25 if he's as good as we think he is.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

NO FARMERS NO FOOD

We have no way of knowing how good he is

Aug 13, 2014, 4:00 PM

I think the NFL would look favorably on two seasons starting without injury.
