Just a minor irritation during a major crisis ....don't read

Mar 18, 2020, 8:41 AM

if easily irritated .Can anybody explain why it's necessary for the TV stations to run information across the bottom of the screen under "BREAKING NEWS" that is 3 or 4 days old, reporting for the umpteenth time that things like Jay Leno and 15 other events at the Peace Center have been postponed or cancelled. Even though some of the information might have been pertinent on Monday, it is old news and certainly not "breaking news" and is inconceivable that anyone who needs to know such information does not already know . If there happened to be something that is really new, breaking news that we need to find out about, would it be lost within all of that other old stuff? I guess I am just being grumpy in my isolation .... and I am only in my 3rd day of who knows how many more and I do realize I am sounding insensitive to the serious plight of those actually suffering financially and medically.

I so agree. What also annoys me is a half hour of teases about special shopping hours or weather. I often DVR and watch later. to heck w their blather or ads

Totally agree, then you get through all the george suck commercials just for them to pop back in with a live 30 second tease about hours and or weather etc... Then show 5 more dumb commercials. I can watch a 2 hour news show when DVR'ing in about 15 minutes.

bottom of the screen, that Queen Elixabeth II has cancelled her annual spring garden party. I am only in season 3 of The Crown with Mrs. Spud and it would have taken a while to learn that...

You’re watching a recorded show from 3-4 days ago.

during both live & regular TV programs. Saw one “breaking” report last night close to 11:00 saying an event earlier in the day was being cancelled- talk about “breaking news”’!

You’re still watching tv?

I haven’t watched an hour of tv since the weekend and, believe this or not, at 4 am this morning I heard a mans voice downstairs and I jumped out of bed to see what was going on and my tv had come on for no reason! That is a true story. It really freaked me out,

Your TV was just letting you know it was missing you.

I agree 100%. It's the state of the present day media.

We don't know what is true and warranting attention and what isn't anymore. EVERYTHING is a crisis for them nowadays.

I hold journalists in the same regard as slip and fall lawyers and politicians.
