Dabo and TAM

I had a friend from Texas A&M tell me early in the season that they would fire Sumlin and they would go after Dabo and that money was not a problem. Given the resume of Dabo vs Jimbo, I think that Dabo turned down a ton of money to stay with Clemson.
I know Dabo is well compensated, but he is loyal to Clemson. When you look at all of the coaches that are willing to jump ship for more money, you have to have a lot of respect for the man.

Clemson is Dabo's masterpiece. His own personal dynasty that can go down as one of the best of all time. He gets the personnel, money, facilities, and fans he wants. Why would ever want to start from scratch somewhere else for more money or a different schools name on his paycheck?

that would make Dabo jump? Especially now, with the amount he’s already made and the amount he will make with his current contract term? If so you really don’t get it, about him or about what’s going on at Clemson right now.

Dabo also knows how much more stressful his life would be coaching at Bama. He has a great thing going and we will always appreciate him more than they would.

I believe this is true. I have real inside information from TAMU and was told they were going after Dabo several weeks ago. I laughed but they were serious. I was told they were going for a successful power 5 Head Coach. Money was no object and they felt after the Sumlin experiment they had to get an existing power 5 head coach. I was told Morris was never under consideration.

Do you honestly believe that A&M seriously considered Chad Morris?

I don’t. Morris was a good assistant for us, and has done fairly well at SMU, but there isn’t anything in his performance that warrants him being a legitimate candidate for a job like Texas A&M. I’m sure they could do a lot worse, but if they were going after coaches like Jimbo Fisher then Morris wasn’t really on their radar aside from interviewing him as a courtesy and/or to fill a quota of interviews.
