I agree there won't be a winner in the spring. But I do think Johnson will end up the starter this season.

The early part of the first few games. Imo, Kelly Bryant would be my guess who eventually wins the job.

got a good chance. I think he's the guy who the coaches are targeting to be the heir to DW. True, other QBs have been in the system longer but none have any real experience at all worth mentioning.
What I hear about Johnson is that he's not only physically talented but has the brains and the confidence (like DW had) to be successful. He's the one I'm pulling for.

I think the coaches will stick with their loyalty to the returning players - Bryant, Israel and Cooper - even Stoudt got the starting job over Deshaun to start the '14 season.
However, I think Johnson has the ability to beat any of them out for the start.
REALLY looking forward to Spring (in more ways than one)!

Nobody will win it in the spring. It's gonna push into fall camp to keep the competition going. That's the only thing that will make them all better for the season.
I still think we will see 2 QBs play rotationaly maybe even through the Auburn game.

great things for Clemson football in 2017 and down the road.
It will mean that Hunter Johnson is not just a very promising young QB who has potential, but who needs to pay his dues and serve his apprenticeship. It means that Hunter Johnson is in fact, an exceptionally skillful and talented natural team leader with maturity beyond his years.
That's what set Deshaun Watson apart when he first got to campus.
If we have another young guy who brings what Deshaun brought to the table, the future is bright indeed.
I think we'll know pretty quickly if that's a possibility, even if Hunter Johnson isn't actually anointed the starter outright in the spring.

I think it will be Bryant.
Cooper will have a shot, but not sure how he will be with his footwork and reading progressions. We know he can sling it but can he do everything else.
Hunter is coming from the HS ranks. He is good, but he is coming from Indiana HS football competition. He played well in camps and in the HS All Star game but he is still inconsistent. I like that he has the same type of mindset as DW in that he doesn't get rattled easy but he is going to have to really play well to become starter day 1.
I think the depth chart will look something like this going into game 1:
Bryant QB1
Cooper QB2
Israel or Johnson QB3
Brice RS
