How would you feel if

Oct 30, 2019, 10:33 AM

You were a backup left guard for the Clemson football team who worked hours each day as hard as every other player, attended all the meetings, did the strength and conditioning routine daily, attended all the classes and kept up your academic standing and received NO money from the “new” rules because your image wasn’t used as a promotion and yet, the star quarterback who follows the same daily grind gets thousands of dollars? I can’t see where that is fair and likely could lead to dissension on a team.

Exactly. That is just one of the many unintended

consequences this thing will have once it goes into effect. The NCAA better hire a whole nationwide division of people just to adjudicate cases of what is and isn't allowable under this umbrella.

It's a microcosm of real life..

I sit very close to my boss and she makes more than I do. The company president is at the other end of the building and he makes multiples of my salary.

The players will adjust.

Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It's almost never for them.

Are you jealous of my assention within the company?

But this is typical of how liberals fix everything -our intentions were good, we never thought some wouldn't get anything since we have always gotten participation trophys

I'm confused at how this is somehow a liberal

position. Many of the Democrats or "liberals" running for office want what is essentially a redistribution of wealth through higher taxes on those who make more and subsidizing many programs (healthcare, tuition, etc.) for those who don't make much money.

The "conservatives" have recently been referring to this massive redistribution as a form of socialism and generally believe that people should be able to make as much money as they want/can within their potential without being required to give a lot of back to subsidize others.

Yet, the complaint in this thread is that other student athletes won't make as much or even any money off their likeness and thus, it is somehow unfair to those individuals. And then you claim it's a liberal solution.

Seems to me this is more in line with a conservative position in allowing individuals (no matter how young they are) to make as much money as they possibly can off their likeness without regard to redistribution to those who can't/don't make as much money.

While your argument and points are valid Tejada

I think that football managers reference to liberals is more of an indictment of the social justice aspect of the push for compensation to the players. The ‘injustice’ was/is that corporations, universities, coaches, etc. were being compensated for the success of the program, while the players were not.

I think it remains to be seen as to the ultimate impact this will have on college athletics, but like quite a few others, it is my belief that it will change the game for the worse. It may even ‘kill’ the sport that we know today. If that happens, then the people who were the genesis for that change will be responsible, even if their primary intent was to improve a situation or right an injustice.

So what you are saying is that just because someone busts their ### and becomes successful they should just be taxed more and give their hard earned money to some lazy bum who only wants to work 10 hours a week or not at all? Idiot liberals never cease to amaze me. Also what if all the rich people decided to quit working because they want a cut of someone elses money without working for it? The whole economic system would collapse. Bottom line is if you want more get off your ### and do more. If you are happy being lazy and hungry then so be it.If I couldn't feed my family I would #### sure be looking for a way to get it done.Problem is these people who think they are entitled to someone elses money without having to do a #### thing for it.End rant.

Gut tells me that almost every kid on the football team will get offered some sort of endorsement deal..... especially during recruitment.

How does Elgton Jenkins feel blocking for Aaron Rodgers

Oct 30, 2019, 11:04 AM

who makes something like 20x his own salary?

I'm pretty sure its called life. And I'm also pretty sure these guys will be happier collecting a little bit of likeness money from EA Sports and whoever else rather than making nothing even if it means a few others on the team will be making more.

Re: How does Elgton Jenkins feel blocking for Aaron Rodgers

I don't think that the difference in money will cause any real problems, but there is a little difference for your comparison. Elgton Jenkins and Aaron Rodgers are compensated on the football field based on their value to the team. I do think that most of the players will accept that the discrepancies in endorsements, are not related to the locker room and ignore it.

I'd probably not feel any different than I would currently seeing that same QB on the cover of magazines, having fans lined up for his autograph, hearing his name discussed by the media each time our team is discussed, and eventually seeing him go in the 1st round of the NFL draft and make millions while I end up working some sort of 9-5 job somewhere.
