How tough is the SEC East?

Jul 19, 2016, 6:30 AM

The Gamecock schedule is not particularly tough this year. Listening to Columbia radio, you are lead to believe on the one hand its a murderer's row. Same guys saying that, then pick the 3-9 Gamecocks to win the first three conference games all on the road. Still lots of questions on their remaining schedule for teams like UGa, Tennessee, and Florida. Take us off the schedule and South Carolina's schedule is a couple of good teams and lots of mediocrity.

The SEC east is quite weak this year as compared to past seasons. If Muscrap can actually find an offense, make the correct calls, and catch a few breaks the chicks might win six games overall, but that is asking quite a bit!

I see losses to Miss. St., UK, Texas A&M, UGa., UT, UF and Clemson. Vandy and Missouri could go either way. Even East Carolina is not a given, but USuck should win that home game. A 2-10 finish is not out of the realm of possibility if things go south unexpectedly.

Go Tigers!

It's about as tough as

...the ACC Atlantic was before FSU and Clemson got their acts back together. It's not your Daddy's SEC East anymore when UGA, FL, and UT were top 10-15 teams every year.

UT has lots of "potential", but hasn't done much to prove they're worthy of a preseason top 10 ranking. FL has no offense. UGA has issues, and an inexperienced 1st years head coach.

UK, MIZZ, VANDY, and SC being up the rear. That's equivalent to Wake, BC, Syracuse, and NC State...at best.

Compared to other SEC teams, it is a weak schedule. Once again, they avoid Alabama and LSU.
