The Media covers little outside COVID. Projections are that about 250,000 will die in the US in the first 12 months.
BUT did you know that tobacco causes about TWICE as many deaths as COVID?

Cigarette smoking causes about one of every five deaths in the United States each year. Cigarette smoking is estimated to cause the following:

More than 480,000 deaths annually (including deaths from secondhand smoke)
Cigarette smoking causes premature death:

Life expectancy for smokers is at least 10 years shorter than for nonsmokers.

Secondhand Smoke and Death
Exposure to secondhand smoke causes an estimated 41,000 deaths each year among adults in the United States.

The good news is if you are a smoker and quit before the age of 40 it reduces the risk of dying from smoking-related disease by about 90%.

If you are one of those people that say it's my right to do what I want to do. You are correct but you are being selfish at the same time. Your wife will be a widow and children will be fatherless if you continue to smoke. Also others around you will die from your second hand smoke.

I was a smoker for about 20 years, from WW2 to 1963. One day I decided cigarettes would kill me and leave my children fatherless. I haven't had a cigarette since. Years later, my doctor said my lungs had cleared and now I will soon be 99. Had I continued smoking, I would have been six feet under many years ago.

After I quit smoking I detected this awful odor that cigarette smoke had left. My office must have been offensive to any one that entered. My wife had to get all of the drapes in our house cleaned. I don't know how my family could stand that horrible odor my smoking caused.

If you are a smoker, I highly recommend you stop. Add those extra years to your life. They will be some of the most wonderful years of your life.

And just think, if I had continued smoking I would not be here now to post this message.
