Hot Rod Got Hosed

Feb 6, 2014, 4:59 PM

Rod McDowell should have been given an invite to the NFL combine, and no mention by Mel Kiper on being one of our "draftable players?" Come on, the kid rushed for over 1,000 yards in the same offense with a 3,000/1,000 yard QB/WR duo. I don't care who you are, THAT'S GETTING IT DONE! His best games were also in our biggest games. If invites were given based solely on intangibles and potential, Rod would be at the top of the list. If he gets the chance I think he may surprise some people...

KILL IT AT CLEMSON PRO DAY HOT ROD!!!

Heck, I thought I was a good cornerback until Freddy Solomon taught me different.

Hope he does

But some guys just don't have the measurables to make it at the next level. Guys like shuey and hot rod were very smart football players. I might be a smart football player but I won't last a snap in the NFL.

You play football? Let me guess.
GWP is the QB, you are the RB, DSP is a WR, CUTiger Bob on the OLine.

Am I doing it right?

I think Shuey could make it in the NFL

Feb 6, 2014, 6:07 PM [ in reply to Hope he does ]

I don't think he would be signed to a team and come in and start and make an impact but with a little time learning the NFL I think he would be a pretty good LB.

He consistently stopped some of the best RB's in college football right in their tracks 1 on 1 and usually kept them from even falling for extra yardage.

As for Hot Rod, I think he would be a pretty serviceable backup to come in and spell the starter a few plays. He wasn't much of a home run threat this season, but that just makes you appreciate his 1000 yards even more, he was a consistent back who averaged about 5 yards per carry if I remember right.

I hope the best for all Tigers and hope to see them on a roster

I was overlooked by the NFL also, but that didn't stop me

You have to have something to fall back on.

I was the most feared pick up league LB in 7 counties

Feb 6, 2014, 5:16 PM

With all do respect to rod shue and others. There is nothing wrong with assuming a pedestal of great CFB players. It is something I and most others could never do.

My post above should be here.

They don't invite :surprises", they invite known quantities.

Feb 6, 2014, 6:17 PM

He probably will surprise peoplel once he is on a roster, but the fact that it will be a surprise is the reason he isn't invited to the combine.
