Clemson has history in football, baseball, and soccer. We can reasonably expect success in those sports on a regular basis. A bad season is the anomaly.

Clemson hoops has always been the opposite. We can usually expect a dismal season where an NIT bid is better than normal. That's why I'm enjoying this season as far as it will go.

Barnes and OP came in with the kind of pedigree that looked like we could hope for long term success. However, both left for greener pastures before we could be elite.

I have always appreciated the toughness the Brownell's teams have shown. Success begins with defense and we have usually been solid there under CBB. The other plus I see with him is that we can shoot free throws. Old guys like me can remember when a late game run would always be derailed by the other team fouling us because we couldn't hit them consistently.

This team has been fun because they are tough, play like a team, and can shoot. I'll take every game as a celebration and see how far we can go.

Clemson first has to be a consistent winning program with solid support, an identity, and focused improvement. Elite is a long long long way off.

There is history with Clemson basketball but it is not a history of winning, or ACC Tournament success, or NCAA Tournament appearances and success, or recruiting success, etc.

Coach BB is doing his best and has been snake bitten often while at Clemson. But he is doing things others before could not do, did not do and could/did not sustain.

Talent upgrades are the final hurdle for him. He just needs recruiting wins. And we shall see how it goes as that will define his continued path towards winning and achieving consistent success.

I like his approach and his philosophy. I like watching his teams. I am a fan. I just hope he can improve his sales pitch and keep upgrading via players talent level. We need two deadeye, consistent rally killing shooters.

Hope some top 3pt shooters with ice water winning grit will come visit Clemson. It looks a lot better than Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Iowa, Wisconsin, etc.
