You didn't do that. Someone else made that happen.

I guess the EMT's, Dr's, Nurse's didn't have anything to do with it!

Yes because they showed him how to play football?

EMT's, Dr's, Nurse's aren't government. They are business built by hard working men, not Obama.

The EMT's, doctors and nurses didn't do it either.....someone else made those degrees happen

He's commenting on Obama's slam

on small business owners and sucessful people. Barry thinks that the hard work didn't get them there...the breaks and people helping them brought them their success.

It's a valid comparison in my book.

You did not read nor hear President Obam's commment!
“If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet. The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together.

I read the whole transcript actually...

Jul 20, 2012, 11:23 AM

And this part I can't get past.

"If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen."

Really? Someone else worked those 18 hour days for me? Someone else put their savings and house on the line for me? I didn't see that in the paperwork.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

On the re-read he may have been referring to the roads

Jul 20, 2012, 11:57 AM

and bridges.....but still.....small business DID make that happen. Mostly small businesses PAID for it....and BUILT the roads.

SO yes mr pres WE did do it!

PS: I am not an obummer supporter

Correct, good coaches helped, good faciltities to work ot in were available paid by others who came before him. Dante still does not make it mithout hard work and perserverance but few of us make it on our own.
Would Jeremiah Johnson have made it through the first winter in the mountains without the old mountain man to teach him? (Will Gear? maybe)
Our economy is built on roads, communications that have been built up with government help in most cases. From Main Street to Wall Street to the newest scholarship player at Clemson we all have relied on others to make our current situation possible.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Hmmm... I wonder who paid for all of those roads...

Jul 20, 2012, 1:46 PM [ in reply to Re: Obama says: ]

...and the internet and whatever else the government "built?" ####, these days, it's probably China. Anyway, I'm sure the government being involved in all that they are involved in make those things much better than if they were controlled by private entities. I'm sure the government did the best job they could when choosing contractors and consultants to create all of the infrastructure and whatnot. I'm sure politics didn't play into any of those decisions.

Here's my thought... if the government hadn't been involved, who's to say we wouldn't have an even better infrasturcture and highway system? When has the government ever gotten involved with anything and made it better? If one has ever dealt with the government, one knows that there is so much red tape and paperwork and restrictions that it takes maybe 4 times as long to get things done than when working with private companies. As Ronald Reagan stated, "government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem."

And, if the socialist in the White House has his way, our economy will be built on taking from productive, successful individuals and businesses and giving to the nonproductive, lazy, unsuccessful individuals. I hate that people are unsuccessful for whatever reasons, but I don't really see how that's the successful people's problem/fault. The goal is to have everyone under government control, and the problem with socialism is that you always run out of other people's money.

Oh, and I hope Crump and B-Meist sent a letter to Al Gore or whomever thanking them for creating TigerNet.

That's my political rant for the day. Shame on the OP for bringing this stuff up in the first place. Ha ha ha.

Back to listening to The Wilkow Majority.

GO TIGERS!!!!!

Couldn't have said it better than that sir, you get a thumbs up. I would give you a thousand of them if I could. I work in the hospital system and work at both a public hospital and a VA. It takes 4 times as long to get things done at the VA with all kinds of extra paperwork and approval needed. It is the biggest pain in the #### and gets done better and more efficiently at the public hospital. Obama will realize one day that you cannot continue to tax the rich to give to the poor. Eventually you run out of rich people's money and the poor just keep getting lazier b/c they are getting free handouts.

This Gov't Won't Work - True Story about a Professor

Jul 20, 2012, 3:13 PM [ in reply to Hmmm... I wonder who paid for all of those roads... ]

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama ' s socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan". All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A.... (substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more readily understood by all).

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed. It could not be any simpler than that.

These 5 sentences are all applicable to this experiment:

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Manning-Tiger: That is where our country is going

Jul 20, 2012, 12:57 PM [ in reply to Hard work = Scholarship ]

wrong. So many believe in instant gratification, they do not even recognize HARD WORK. Instead of this young man WORKING to get a scholarship - we have to say, others "helped" him.

What kind of message is that?

Nobody gets ahead without 'help'. "hard work" does not pay.

Just dreadful.
