Help me. Is the term “thug” another way of saying and describing

A young black man who does not follow authority? Is that is what is being visualized when write or say it? Please be honest. If so will that mean that if you “look” and dress like a thug you will immediately be assumed to be one and then treated like a suspect before you can prove that your hoodie, clothing, music choice, volume level of said music and hair style doe not mean you are a threat. The term “thug” is dangerous but much more what a thug looks like might even be more dangerous. What do y’all think?

"Thug" actually comes from "Thugee" which refers to a cult of Indian assassins. For decades it was used to refer to generic petty criminals, long before it became associated with young black men, which happened with Tupac's rise to fame.

when I think of "thug" I don't consider race. I look at a "thug" as a rabble-rousing do-nothing...has nothing to do with race in my mind.
But now I'm told it is racist. How long before "miscreant" becomes racist?
