Swinney and Parker talk baseball, Kyle's future

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney reiterated on Monday night that he would shocked if quarterback Kyle Parker wasn't under center when the football season kicks off, and even said he pulls for Parker to have continued success on the baseball field. Full Story »

Of the last 3 yrs & 35 QBs drafted, only 2 were under 6' 2".

Mar 30, 2010, 3:40 PM

In the last 3 years, and 35 QBs drafted, only two QBs under 6’2” have been drafted and they were both superstars (6’ Pat White-- 2nd round, and 6’ Heisman winner Troy Smith-- 5th round). There are LOTS of guys out there with good arms AND height. The NFL values both. So they end up drafting guys that I've never heard of from schools that I've never heard of, like 6'3" Keith Null of West Texas A&M, over shorter stars like 6' 1" Chase Daniel, who went undrafted and landed on an NFL practice squad for $91k/yr, despite his brilliant college career at Missouri.

Parker is reportedly, not really even 6' tall. I'd say his chances of a successful NFL career are much lower than his chances for a succesful MLB career.

If Parker gets a decent offer from MLB this year, he needs to take it because his leverage will decrease next year since he's unlikely to have an NFL career, and it would be foolish for him to risk a career-ending injury or a slump in either sport. The only question is whether he or not he gets a decent offer from MLB. If he keeps batting at his current level, I expect so.

If Colt McCoy is being dropped due to his height..

Imagine how far Parker would be dropped due to his.. Colt had a crazy good career from freshman year on, and has crazy accuracy..

He'd be a fool not to take the money

This is not a repeat of CJ Spiller in 2008.
