a common defense of Dabo hiring Napier was he wasn't given the money for an experienced OC. If the AD says there's no money, who you gonna get?

Come on now.....we paid TB out in the middle of the year.
Sep 15, 2011, 8:43 AM

|
Do you really think that happened? My understanding from people in the know....is TB didn't want to get rid of Spence. And I tend to believe that considering what we paid TB. The AD may control the purse strings but ultimately the big donors control the AD

that holding onto Spence doomed Bowden.
But if what people say about TDP being on the cheap with the money for assistant coaches, it's at least possible that that played a role in his decision.
It's a 'better the devil you know than the one you don't' type deal. If they told me to fire Spence but won't give me the salary I need to go get a guy I know can help me save my job... I'm probably going to try and win with the guy I've got and just make some tweaks.

Im not saying either way.......but I just repeated what was said in an interview with him. He was asked if he was told to fire Spence or he would be fired and his reply was that he was never given that option by TDP.

reported before Barker ordered TDP to give TB whatever he wanted. TDP was going to call TB's bluff, but that buffoon Barker demanded TDP keep TB. Barker is way too involved in the AD and micromanaging TDP. Just like Dabo is too involved in our offense.

both are average coaches. if you can't hire and fire well
Sep 15, 2011, 12:42 AM
|
|
then you suck at one of the most important parts of the job. d@mn good coaches win games and put good, well coached, well disciplined teams on the field. TB nor Dabo have come close to doing that. You folks can't objectively separate your personal feelings towards these men when judging their coaching abilities. I don't have that problem because I don't get hung up on the personal aspects. I could care less. I want coaches that win with integrity and graduate players. other than that, i could care less because the rest doesn't really matter and isn't in the job description. i'm a bottom line kind of guy, most of you are too hung up on the warm n fuzzy BS that doesn't have anything to do with winning.

It's COULDN'T care less. COULDN'T! Why is that so hard
Sep 15, 2011, 1:02 AM
|
|
for so many people to understand? COULD care less implies that you care some, at least enough that it is possible for you to care less than you already do. COULDN'T care less means that you care so little that you cannot care any less than you already do.

during a game. He just never looked comfortable during a game. Maybe I read too much into it, but I always thought he looked confident until the game and suddenly he looked nervous.
