Losing out on RN and C. Lawson means we don't have any immediate pure pass rushing DEs on the team right now. We have guys that have the potential but are still a bit raw.
Beasly has all the skill in the world but is still learning the playbook and trying to get his weight up. Crawford and Barnes need to work on their burst off the LOS but both have shown flashes. Lawson looks like a beast but time will tell as he too is trying to learn the playbook. Aside from Beasly Ebo might be the best pass rushing DE right now in terms of pure skill but he is very raw in fundamentals because he played in NY where FB is not that big of a deal. Martian Aiken has received pretty good reviews but is also still a RS and trying to reach his full potential.

season. For those who forget, Coach Venables arrived at Clemson with the recruiting season mostly over. This will be his first season with mostly his guys. The LSU win is big boost to the returning starters and will help when we face the leg humpers.
Not even going out on a limb when I declare that we have a defense this year. Dawgs, Coots, and Seminoles ignore them at their own peril. The only slight downside I see is that after we beat the Dawgs we can't sneak up on the holes or Coots.

before the next game, you will see a big difference this year.
- We lost nobody, basically.
- We're getting back a few players on the secondary from injuries.
- Everyone that's going to play this year got tons of experience last year, even second string.
- Everyone is going to a lot older, stronger and more comfortable with the system.
-Some depth will be added with a few of the key freshman.
-New energy at the Secondary Coaching spot.
If the Offense takes another step, even a small one, we could have a special season. If you don't believe it, look at how the team got better each week...and mostly, the team that showed up, with extra practice time, for LSU.
This year's defense will be much improved. Bet the farm on it.
