Finley and #3

I watch the game against BC. Findlay was incredible. He has a quick release and is fairly accurate. He is an NFL quarterback. #3 is a very good receiver, very physical This will be the best offense that we face. This will be the best test of our secondary to date.

I think they'll have their successes , however few and fleeting . What I do not expect is to see a repeat of TAMU where we had multiple breakdowns in coverage ( and they had about 4 or 5 receptions that were complete lottery wins ) . Our defense is hitting stride , so there will be fewer opportunities for teams going forward. I think we will have our way with them offensively , to be honest . Expecting a close game through the half . We'll need another good day running it . ... as well as our front 7 taking away their ground game .

The A and M game was like, if Ole Spud came to visit you in

the helm of your tug,and upon introduction, when I went to shake your hand, I tripped, fell forward...stopped my momentum by grabbing the throttle and thrusting said tug in full speed ahead, which moved the bow of the tanker 2 feet to the left and AVOIDED CRUSHING A 6 YEAR OLD SITTING WITH HER LEGS DANGLING OFF THE DOCK...whereby YOU receive the Captain of the Year award for being alert on duty......That game was the craziest I have ever seen.....
As a side note, don't ever let me near the helm....or my friend Steve from Pinehurst.....we have had our share of mishaps....especially Steve.

Back in the 70's, my buddy Steve from Pinehurst,(He was

Steve from JL Mann back then) wanted to go fish Clark Hill..at night. Well, I had been fishing Clark hill since I was 4 or 5 years old so I had 15 years experience. I said let's go. So Steve picks me up and and he had this little 14' Skeeter duck boat. Very narrow. VERY! we get to Hester Bottoms and it is black as soot. I MEAN I COULD NOT SEE STEVE IN THE FRONT OF THE BOAT.And we head out. Steve is saying,"WHICH WAY SPUD?!!!!", and young Spud is saying,"I DON'T Know, I CAN"T SEE SQUAT!!". Now, Steve is not the patient type. Not patient at all. And after going maybe 50 yards he is saying,"I can't steer this friggin(Not yet a Word back then) boat!!". So, myself, sitting directly in front of the motor, turned around to have a look see. Well sir, the only thing holding the 20 horse Johnson to the back of the boat was the steering cable itself. (You see, the week before, Steve from JL Mann had taken Alan the Veterinarian fishing on Lake Fontana and while loading the boat in 4 foot waves had allowed the Johnson to bang the bottom of the concrete ramp thereby separating it from the mounting bolts on the stern, leaving it to young Spud to discover said incompetenceat 2 am in the middle of a pitch black lake, so that Steve could chastise young Spud FOR NOT KNOWING WHERE WE WERE!!!")....So, I yelled back to the captain that THE MOTOR IS FALLING OFF THE BOAT! GO SLOW!!. Well, I grabbed that motor, pulled it forward and eased it up over the stern, and once I could wrangle it, I said, "OK, Give it some thottle" and away we went.....(Youngsters have no fear, or common sense). Summarily, we come ashore on a huge island right at the mouth of Fishing Creek and once again, Young Spud had his bearings, so I said,"Let's Camp here", thereby claiming the high ground that I had navigated us to a known spot on the lake. So, we go to unload, and Steve from JL Mann had laid his sleeping bag on the floor of the boat, but he quickly corrected that by informing me that I had knocked it off of the top of the cooler. IT WAS SOAKING WET. Next step was to light the Coleman lantern. To be brief, impatient Steve could not start it, and yet another Coleman lantern was bashed against a pine tree, whirled around 3 times and sent hurling out into the lake, SPLOOSH it went. Now, with no way of seeing anything, Steve crawled into the front end of that tiny Skeeter(You dck hunters know what I mean, and I crawled into my dry sleeping bag for a night's rest on the finest layer of ROCKS you have ever seen.....
Well sir, 3 days later, the sun came up! And away we went to catch some white crappie....Boys, in all my years of fishing, I HAVE NEVER SEEN SO MANY COPPER HEADS!!! Good grief, they had to have been all over that Island.....
That trip was 40 years ago. I remember it like it was yesterday. And, sometime, maybe in the near future, I will recant my own trip to Lake Fontana with Steve from Pinehurst.
Have a great day!
Go Tigers.

You and Steve probably still have great laughs about that . Maybe you could do one of those reenactments as it was exactly , but just as you are today . Were there any pics taken on that night , or the morning after ?

Part of what hurt us at A&M was Mond extending plays with his legs and still looking downfield. That isn’t Finley’s game. I expect you’ll see some LB blitzes pretty often to get him off balance and some pressure in his face.

He threw a lot of balls up for grabs that they miraculously came down with. State also doesn’t pose a running threat like A&M and don’t have the speed to get to the outside with their backs so rely on jump balls to their big WR

Guess our only hope is to steal a page from Doorend's game plan and setup intentional targets on those two. That may be the only thing we can do to avoid defeat that he would respect and maybe we'd stop getting called a 'finesse' team.

Sat in endzone...I posted last year that Finley is an NFL QB. Kid has a lightning quick release with accuracy. He kills you if there is no pressure on him. Blitz time.....and DL has to get pressure and their hands up to deflect balls. NCSU has a swagger about them too. I think they are going to be tough for years to come. Time for the Tigers to get nasty....hit them square in the teeth on both sides of the ball with pedal down.
