So awesome that he has a choice

Sucks to be him, huh?. Stay, get a diploma, and be a part of what looks like the start of another run or go and make money. He wins either way. Would love to see him stay but who can blame him if he leaves. All depends on which he finds more important. I have never been a fan of early departures and we certainly have seen both sides of those who do. Some make it, most do not. The next level is just a business.

I think he should go

Only because he will be rich sooner.
But he knows that college football is a once in a lifetime opportunity. After this its over. He also gets an opportunity to get a master's degree which will increase his value after the NFL. He knows that backs don't last long in the league and he isn't going to make a lifetime worth of money on a rookie contract if he doesn't last long.

I think you are mistaken on rich sooner. 2nd Round you don't get near the amount of money you get in the 1st. ETN could have a bad combine and find himself a 5th round pick and cut. I just don't personally think he would go high enough to justify leaving early. I think he should play one more year of college ball and go out when 4 out of 10 top ten picks won't be spent on QBs. That means top 10 grade players will be going 10-20 because QB needy teams reached.

He will stay. This is a QB draft, I doubt he goes anywhere near top 15. You know Dabo will pull out C.J Spiller for this one. Get the insurance policy and lets rock. Dabo was pushing Sammy and Deshaun out the door, you didn't see the same for this.

Personally, I think you are mistaking the toll a NFL season takes on you compared to a season at Clemson. ETN will carry the ball the 1st half of 85% of the games and rest the 2nd. The NFL you play 2 preseason games, 16 Regular season and possibly 1-4 playoff games. Like 10 LSU players just declared, and national champion players always get picked high. C.J Spiller did just fine coming back, ETN having his degree or not could make a difference (I'm not sure if he finished)

Actually think this is to Dabo's credit to use a kid correctly and not break them.
but on any given single play a RB with TE’s style can get smashed.
His draft stock can’t go much higher even with a 2000yd season next year. RB’s just aren’t what they used to be in the NFL.
Go get paid young man.

I think Travis is the best RB we’ve ever had

And selfishly for Clemson I’d love to have him another year.
That said- I want to see Travis get all he can. I’m not sure anyone in the nfl care if his team came in #1 or #2 in their final year of college. So with that, I just can’t see him coming back.

Depends on if he wants to be in those Nissan commercials or not. Of course, they would have to give him the ball. If I averaged 8 yards a carry and only got the ball 15 times in the CFP Natty, I’d bounce.

If Etienne really has first round potential then he should

consider some strategic patience and return for his senior year. His chances of being selected in the first round of this years NFL draft are extremely low - too much competition in this years running back class with workhorse backs (Taylor and Dobbins are 2000+ yards/year backs) and the odds are stacked against him.
Most services, think Etienne is a second round or later NFL draft pick this year. If it is really about the money (first round draft money is unlike all the other rounds) some strategic patience from Etienne could result in a lot bigger payday in 2021. The 2021 NFL draft will have fewer RB's with the experience or record of Etienne - his biggest competition for first round selection will be Chuba Hubbard.
While there are no guarantees on anything in life, I see way more positives to Etienne returning for his senior year. Potential Heisman, will garner most (if not all) Clemson and ACC running back records, will continue to build strength and demonstrate he is a well rounded back (pass blocking/receiving), while maximizing his college experience (a once in a lifetime event). The only downside is potential injury which can be mitigated by a nice insurance policy. Postponing his professional career for a year has the potential to pay off much more handsomely for Etienne than declaring early - just as it did for CJ Spiller.
Having said all that, if Etienne declares early for the draft, then I wish him all the success in the world. By all accounts he is a virtuous young man of character that represents himself, his family, and Clemson very well. He will forever be one of my favorite Tigers and hope that he has a long successful NFL career.

Hard to predict what relatively unknown RBs have

breakout years next year. At this point on paper, it would seem he would be drafted higher if he stays another year. But, that situation is always subject to change as new stars emerge. There is also always the spectre of injury. He can get insurance against injury of course, but it will never match the dollars he would make if healthy and having the season we know he is capable of. His is truly a hard decision to make. If I had to guess, I would say that the way the Natty turned out will tip the scales, and he comes back for his senior season.
