Nice price or crack pipe?

Sep 19, 2019, 1:14 PM

Seriously considering moving on this like a bitch.

I would go drive it. Parts are easy and the resell if you get it up to par would be amazing.

Also I would buy it and then put in a nice CD player and a 6 disc changer on the pad in the back and an old Rockford Fosgate bass tube. Oh boy. What a find.

One immediate issue I see

Sep 19, 2019, 1:19 PM

is that you'll have to change your handle back to TheZXXXXXX.

That's the #1 drawback.***

"no expense spared"

Sep 19, 2019, 1:24 PM

Won't buy a $100 heater core

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Here's what that tells me.

Sep 19, 2019, 1:27 PM [ in reply to 311K miles?? ]

A: It's reliable.

B: It's well maintained.

C: It's been driven an average of 10k miles per year.

D: I'm pretty good at rationalizing.

He goes on for 10 lines about how great the car is

Sep 19, 2019, 4:53 PM

then says it will make a great "project car." What part am I misunderstanding?

MauldinT, where are you???

Re: He goes on for 10 lines about how great the car is

What car at that age isn’t? I would plan to put $5k into and then stop and enjoy it.

That’s what I did with my FJ. I put about $8k into it to keep it off the rollback every weekend. I am done. Next thing I do is sell it in May 2021.

He has sentimental issues with the car. That the main thing in his post.

I'm hoping he considers the heater core to be the project.***

That heater core job will be a biiiiiiiiich, and I'm

Sep 19, 2019, 5:09 PM

guessing there will be seals and electrical items galore to futz with, but that's a solid price if the body is straight and there's no stories with the title.

Oh yeah, you'll need to figure out which car actually goes with the VIN. http://bestcarsads.com/viewItem.php?id=30298-1990-Nissan-300ZX-Black-Manual-Coupe

Oh yeah, and let's say you buy it and the engine is junk....

You have performed some sort of wizardry.

Sep 19, 2019, 7:32 PM [ in reply to That heater core job will be a biiiiiiiiich, and I'm ]

And I like it. Thanks for your insight. Was hoping you'd chime in.

There are ways to do the heater core without ripping apart the dashboard, but it's still a PIA.

Obed will agree. No way I ever look at these

Sep 19, 2019, 8:19 PM

as a money maker. They are toys and fun and why you work hard. I love driving. I drive mine about 2-3 times a week. Tonight the family drove it to dinner and the kids love it and people like seeing it and looking at it. It’s fun for everyone.

Hopefully after all is said and done, I might “make” $5k once I sell it but the longer I have it and as cheap as storage rates are, I can see me getting a 1995-96 ish Mustang and storage them both and play until my heart is content.

It would NOT be an investment.

Sep 19, 2019, 8:35 PM

It would be a toy and a little wish fulfillment. My friend advised me not to sink my money in a depreciating asset and I was like, how much more could it depreciate?

Now that you are hot to trot. Keep looking around.

Sep 19, 2019, 9:18 PM

Maybe you have. It now that you are pumped on the idea. Look for better options. If none, grab it.

Re: Now that you are hot to trot. Keep looking around.

Sep 19, 2019, 9:29 PM

As you can tell, I am not a good infuence on buying cars. I will buy just about anything and have fun and move on.

Not taking about prostitutes. Just cars.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I do a lot of fantasy shopping.

Sep 19, 2019, 9:34 PM [ in reply to Now that you are hot to trot. Keep looking around. ]

I spend a lot of time on my autotrader app just playing around. The other day I was looking at the Ferrari Mondial T, which I am in no position to purchase. And I always keep my eye on the Z32, but when I saw this one I was like, wait. Hang on. I might be able to make this work.

If it doesn't work out, I'll live.
