Having wine tonight with Italian..............

Apr 1, 2015, 7:00 PM

So wine experts where do you rate this? I know nothing about Vino. But I like it this one.

Pinot Noir
2012Russian River Valley

Pinot Noir only reveals its full brilliance in only a few small cool-climate pockets of the world. Russian River Valley happens to be one of them. With the cooling coastal fog that rolls over our estate vineyards each day, Pinot ripens at a leisurely pace. Concentrated, small berries literally burst with flavor, wrapped up in rich spice and plush, round texture.

Fresh aromas of boysenberry are supported by deeper tones of anise, espresso bean and earth. The palate expands into black cherry and dark chocolate flavors, rounded by cola and clove. Well-structured and decidedly velvety, the supple tannins and spice linger.

I've never had that one but

it is a 2012 and not 2014 which is plus.
Hopefully that means the Pinot Noir is getting back to realistic pace, for some time after the movie Sideways came out.. Pinot flew off the shelves and the makers were trying to meet demand and some (ALOT) skipped the aging and released "green" wine.

2013 might not be a great vintage for Califorina wines....

They had a pretty bad drought which hurt grape quality.

I can't tell a good wine and a bad wine apart.

Apr 2, 2015, 8:49 AM

Had a riesling last night. It tasted like grapes. Have no idea what the brand was.

fruits should taste like grapes and other fruit. Most wine I have ever tried it bitter. That's why I drink beer.

It might be your palette, not the wines.***

I'd rather have a grape Fanta than any wine ever made.

Apr 2, 2015, 12:55 PM

That's all I really know about wine other than I like Beringer 04 White Zif with or without anything.

Many beer snobs act like they're doing something that no one else has ever done.

You know...drinking beer.

There's beer and there's GOOD beer...........

I am having great success looking for $8 and below at Costco, trying them, and then buying cases if I like them. Pretty happy with the results so far.
