hit it, I set the hook and immediately knew he was under a rock. I never moved him......I hate it when I never see them....Could have been a 10lb. largemouth or a 30lb. cat....They are huge when they get away!

Yep, the biggest fish I've ever had on the line and hooked, they got away. And I have hooked a couple in my life time that the pic would have weighed 5 pounds

deep sea charter, I hooked into something huge while using the electric reel. Captain came by and cut the line to keep me from burning up his reel. Mad would not adequately describe my mood. If I did not need him to pilot his boat to get us back from 60 miles out, I would have done my best to pitch his sorry butt overboard.

Hey Spud, I went to Clemson today to help my daughter finish moving out of her apartment. Going to the apt, we crossed the lake and she started yelling out to the boats, “Are y’all catching a lot of fish?”
I told her of you always reporting on “whacking ‘em”.
On the way back, she started yelling to the boats, “Are y’all whacking ‘em today?”
I guess she learned some new fishin lingo

I gave up fishing many years ago. So, this is fore shore a dumb question, but the big boy appears to have horizontal "ghost" black stripes, while the other two have vertical ones. Different species?

and I couldn't seem to coax ANY bass species to come near my rod and reel. Not many fish plus several expensive mechanical breakdowns sent me to the golf course, never to return to the lakes and ponds.
I also remember seeing a couple of ~12 foot gators cruising in Sparkleberry swamp cut-through one of the last times I fished Lake Marion all those years ago. That had something to do with the choice as well.
