Has a coach ever before run off a Heisman contender and then

May 29, 2020, 10:55 PM

and then had to go looking for his replacement at Wake Forest?

Is that a good thing? Is it a fairly frequent occurrence?

Asking for another poster ... uh, let’s just call him Bulldog.

Can we start calling him Bullshyatt?

Sure ... that’ll work.***

I think "ChokeDog" or "CootDog" would be more correct...

Wilson was a pretty successful starter at NCSt before becoming a grad transfer.

I don't know how you can call that "getting run off."

Wilson left because Tom Obrien didn't want to wait on Wilson making his decision about baseball.

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

Within the last 5 years...Joe Burrow and Baker Mayfield come to mind as HWs who had to transfer to play.

But nobody runs off QBs like Kirby. Give him 2 more years, and then we could make a long list of his former QBs in the NFL that he didn't put there.

Neither of these guys was anything special when they transferred, especially Baker. I watched him play as a freshman at Tech and thought he was borderline awful. Same for Kyler Murray at A&M. Unlike Baker, he was hyped up because of his high school career but was worse than terrible in limited time as a freshman.

Russell Wilson is a decent example. Didn't he have some sort of issue with the coach at NC State? Can't remember what it was.

Kirby gave the kid many chances in critical situations. He did terrible, was a bust.

Still not convinced he is top QB material at the next level. Think he is a product of the system at tOSU.

Kirby is still reeling them in, just got a 5star transfer QB from USC and has one committed for '21.

Couldn't the above be said about Burrows and his time at OSU and then LSU?

Jeaux got very little PT at tOSU behind draft choice starters.

In tOSU Spring Game of '18, JBurrow put on a show, many/most OSU fans thought he would start. The other guy was named starter, thus after spring practice JB graduated and transferred to LSU. Got there in summer, no spring to mesh with WRs. Tough gig for a QB to come in w/o spring and start.

tOSU fans were huge LSU fans, they loved him and cheered for him even at tOSU games.

His legacy at LSU is not numbers or wins, young/new QBs are compared to him re his WORK ETHIC. He worked with them all, hounding them to join him daily. Meanwhile he earned his M.A. degree in 3 semesters.
