Re: 1970's - Red Parker

Jan 13, 2016, 3:09 AM

When I was there..Red Parker
The Tigers went 2-9 in 1975, and 3-6-2 in 1976,
Then Charlie Pell came in and
immediately 1977, we went 7-4, and
and the ACC Champs in 1978.
That's when Danny's reign begin in the bowl game,
against Ohio State, ending the reign of Woody Hayes.
Exciting times,
GO TIGERS!!!

56-20 debacle at the Roach in 1975. I do remember the undefeated home season in '74, though. But, we were like possums and got killed on the road that year too. Thank God, things are much better now. I hope all the newly minted Tiger fans never take the success for granted, because I assure you, it has not always been that way!

That '76 team was so much better than the '75 team, which had zero senior leadership. Only 17 points stood between the 3-6-2 record and 8-3. Always so close, but a very young team learning to be successful. It all came together against the '##### in the 'silent out' game and set the stage for '77. Pell walked into a sweet situation, which sucked for Coach Parker. That said, Danny Ford would never have been around had it not been for the change. Mixed emotions, to be sure.

The question is will we ever have only 3 wins

Jan 13, 2016, 3:23 AM

in the forseeable future? I'd say no. To lose that many games you'd have to lose the program and the players. That won't ever happen under Dabo.
