Questions for you Golf Aficionados . . .

In glancing at a few stats from this weekend's Rocket Mortgage Classic Tournament one thing jumped out at me. I know that Doc and Lucas are big hitters . . . but I never knew Jonathan had that kind of length.

Is this new to him . . . or have I been living under a rock somewhere?!!!

That isn't that great. You see how far behind Doc and Lucas that he is. Short hitters on the PGA hit it 290.

They hadn’t had any rain for a week. JByrd is usually in the 280-285 range.

When he first went on the tour he was one of the long hitters. May be average by today's standards.

modern balls, exotic clubhead and shaft materials have made EVERYBODY on Tour longer. This is why there is such discussion about "rolling back" ball and / or clubface technology so that classic courses are not obsoleted lengthwise.

It would not surprise me at all to see "routine" 400 yard drives on some holes at traditional links courses for The Open Championship in dry conditions the next couple of years. We're already seeing some Tour players teeing off with 3 woods on Par 5's occasionally for better position off the tee! Hail, you could let me hit a driver AND a 3 wood, and I still wouldn't be out there where their drive landed! :(
