Roster Management after COVID - should be a Doozey

Aug 27, 2020, 8:48 AM

some teams will win some will LOSE. should be interesting to see how extra year of playing time will turn out. Since they are keeping the LIMIT to 85 scholarships right? A bunch of kids will not get their extra year while bringing in new top talent.

Will be interesting to see who manages their 85 the best.

I think teams will be able to go over the 85 scholarship

limit for any players that are eligible for one more year due to COVID. The question is will schools be able to afford to fund the extra scholarships.

They did according to this article...

"The NCAA's announcement said seniors student-athletes who take advantage of the additional year of eligibility will not count against team scholarship limits in 2021-22. But even with temporarily-expanded scholarship limits, athletic departments dealing with significant budget shortfalls may not be in position to spend more on athletic scholarships."

Had explained to me that

Until the Covid era players are cycled out, each year those that are in their "give back" year won't count towards the 85. Don't know how true that will be, but that's the way it's being explained right now.
