Fire the same as any pistol so there is no need to outlaw them. Larger magazines should not be outlawed either. I can tape two 10 round magazines together and change them in less than two seconds so makes no sense. There should be some kind of mental record check during registration or purchase and I could live with guns being registered from private sales as well (hard for me being very anti government involvement though, but I can live with this). The thing is these "assualt rifle" are not military rifles. They are not fully capable. We should spend or time on equipping and protecting schools, having some kind of program that looks at mental health patients more closely. No way to stop all of it, but we can increase our police force to actually go after illegal guns sales, gun trafficking and start cleaning up our inner cities. There is way more gun violence there than what has happened in the suburbs lately. I wished we would not turn such a blind out to what is happening to places like Detroit (corrupt politics mostly) an other large cities with their crime and ecomomy. Why do people in these cities keep electing politicians that keep raising taxes and driving jobs from their cities? Baffles me.

Too many encroachments on our freedoms already. That in and of itself is basis for the 2nd ammendment; the ultimate "checks and balances" against a government gone corrupt.
Tired of hearing the discussion cast around "someone's right to go hunting". Shooting ducks is ONE thing you can do with firearms,... another thing you can do with them is to discourage political tyranny.
Pretty clear to me which of the two our founding fathers had in mind when the 2nd ammendment was enacted.
