Ellington out against N.C. State, possibly longer

Ellington out against N.C. State, possibly longer

Running back Andre Ellington will definitely miss the N.C. State game this week, and could be out longer after his toe injury - originally diagnosed as turf toe - was found out to be a strained ligament. Full Story »

Doubt it, Clemson is still paying off TB, If Swinney is let go, then he will be another coach to pay along with a new head coach. I don’t see three head coaches on the pay roll at the same time.

Dabo didn't throw two interceptions, Parker did. He is playing so tentative, as if he is scared to take a hit. Either play the game, or go on out to Colorado and play baseball!!

Dabo is not the problem, we need a new Offensive Coordinator, the play calling stinks!! Now if Dabo does nothing about his incompetent staff, then we will have an issue.

"KP loves Clemson. He gave up a lot to come back here."

Come on man. Let Tajh play...now. I do not want to hear the, "Well, our QB is inexperienced..." excuse 2-3 games into next season...Let Tajh get the experience now...please...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That quote seals the deal

Oct 31, 2010, 11:11 PM

I was suspecting that Dabo was felling obligated to play KP. I feel really bad for Boyd. He has no chance of playing.

But now Bowden Jr. has an excuse for this year's record. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a 6 year contract extension after this season.

"He [Kyle Parker] gave up a lot to come back here." Really?

Nov 1, 2010, 12:58 AM

I keep hearing Dabo and the Clemson PR department say that Kyle Parker gave up "a lot" to come back and play football, but I couldn't find any confirmed report from sources close to the Rockies that the Rockies actually offered Parker a bigger signing bonus to not play football. I know that the Parkers' asked for more money not to play football. I know that the Rockies called the Parkers' bluff. I know that there was lots of speculation and rumors reported by the Clemson beat writers. But I've never seen a report from reputable sources close to the Rockies (or even close to the Parkers) that the Rockies offered Parker more money to not play football.

Can anybody point me to a report from a reputable source that the Rockies actually offered Parker more money to not play baseball?

Re: "He [Kyle Parker] gave up a lot to come back here." Really?

Nov 1, 2010, 4:00 AM

Well, there's this article, which is one of about 300 if you Google it

http://www.thestate.com/2010/07/22/1386282/parkers-passion-for-football-prevails.html

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No. The link you sent is more conjecture from The State.

Nov 1, 2010, 11:40 AM

The link to The State article that you sent says that Parker turned down $2.4M to play football one more year but it doesn't cite any source. Sure there are lots of articles by Clemson beat writers, and the Clemson PR department that say (without citing any source whatsoever) that Parker turned down big bucks to come back and play football, but I can't find one real news article that cites a source close to the Rockies (or even sources close to the Parkers) confirming that the Rockies offered him more money. I spent a lot of time Googling it and, during his negotiations, I read all of the articles that I saw. I never found one article that cites any kind of reasonable source for the claim that the Rockies offered Parker more money-- just a lot of conjecture.

After Parker signed, a reporter asked Kyle directly whether the Rockies offered him more money to not-play football. Parker gave the kind of evasive non-answer that made me think that they didn't offer him any more money.

Parker got paid exactly at slot, which is exactly what you'd expect. If anyone has an article that cites a real source showing that the Rockies offered him more money, I'd apprecieate if you'd post it.

Re: "He [Kyle Parker] gave up a lot to come back here." Really?

Nov 1, 2010, 12:23 PM

These will have to do. If you aren't going to believe what's reported, just say that and let's be done with it.

http://www.postandcourier.com/news/2010/aug/17/rockies-deal-allows-parker-play-football/

http://blogs.denverpost.com/rockies/2010/08/16/parker-talks-headed-down-to-wire-with-rockies/4552/

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No. Again no sources cited. Just conjecture.

Nov 1, 2010, 4:26 PM

Usually when a reporter makes a claim, the reporter will cite a source like:
"according to Joe Blow, spokesman for the Rockies."
"according to Carl Parker, Kyle's father."
"according to unnamed sources close to the Rockies."

Negotiation-reports for other baseball draftees had such citations. But I never saw anything like that for Parker. On the contrary, I saw a bunch of carefully worded statements from the Parkers that danced all around the issue.
