Agree with Fedora here

Jul 18, 2018, 8:21 PM

IMO Football is very close to dying. I personally don’t think it will exist in 25 years

If anything football is growing. A slightly smaller talent pool won't be noticed.

Everything in America that is American

Jul 18, 2018, 10:11 PM

is under attack.

Football's no different.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So you're going to blame CTE findings on liberals?

Jul 18, 2018, 11:00 PM

People can do whatever they want with the evidence. If you consider studying the negative effects of football as an attack, I assume you get upset about a lot of stuff

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Who mentioned the word "liberal?"

Jul 18, 2018, 11:13 PM

Oh yeah, YOU did, libtard.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Lol. I'm sure you didn't insinuate that

Jul 18, 2018, 11:57 PM

I'm sorry your American things are being attacked. I'm sorry there may be evidence that banging helmets together may not be good for one's brain and former players are killing themselves. The science is attacking your hobby..

If you think trying to use logic is going to work convincing a guy who doesn't get the scientific method boy have I got news for you.

It won't.

A lot of hobbies are dangerous. If you are worried about saving lives go stand in front of a convenience store and protest the sale of alcohol and tobacco.

As long as they are giving out $100 million+ contracts people will take the risk.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It is amazing that football is under the scope

Jul 18, 2018, 10:26 PM

but a sport like boxing, where the goal is to give the guy a concussion, is fine.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You don't understand why a sport with a small following like boxing isn't being scrutinized?***

??

Jul 18, 2018, 11:17 PM

"Like boxing" includes all fighting sports, including, but not limited to MMA fighting which together with boxing generates billions of dollars in revenue each year, and has hundreds of millions of fans across the globe. I understand where your 40% pulse comes from, you offer absolutely nothing to the conversation.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Do you want me to find multiple articles about CTE related to those sports or even soccer?

Jul 19, 2018, 12:00 AM

You don't think football gets the most attention because it is the most popular?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm not familiar with Pop Warner UFC. Please fill me in, though.

Jul 19, 2018, 12:09 AM [ in reply to ?? ]

I'm sure youth participation is booming. Your high pulse thing is very impressive

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You agree with Fedora?

There is a lot of money to be made in football. It will take a lot of successful lawsuits and a lot of negative public opinion. Given the cash cow that football is, it would make a lot of sense for the NFL, NCAA et al to get in front of the CTE thing and fix it.

Re: Agree with Fedora here

Jul 19, 2018, 8:45 PM

As long as it's a big money-maker, it's not going anywhere. Technology will allow it to evolve into something less hazardous. In the meantime, expect a lot of meaningless bluster- not belittling the problem, just the available solutions. Would take an act of congressional political suicide to get rid of it and there is not that much moral fiber on either side of the aisle.
