Great article. Thanks for posting this. Clemson can really say: It just means more, and prove why “Best is the Standard!”

together regarding the state maintained roads around campus.
He epitomizes all that is great about Clemson; a great love for the University and Clemson community, and just a true gentleman.

Would love to see how Clemson's in state attendance (62%, I believe) vs out of state has changed over the years that student expenditures have fallen? Where is that stat?
Clemson no longer offers Common Market and from what I can tell and, with a HS Sr preparing to make her final decision, offers no scholarships for out of state students unlike most SE major universities.
It is truly become a mostly In-State SC school and elite-only out-of-state university. When I went in the early 80's there was a good cross section of America attending.
Disappointing two Clemson grads (her parents) will probably stop financially supporting the university starting in '18.
Last word, stop with the construction if budgets are an issue. You can't complain about budget shortfalls and at the same time have a half-adozen new buildings being erected! "Oh, we have to upgrade to compete"...for who, SC HSchoolers who are the only ones that can afford to attend!

67%, and of course it costs more for an out of state student (14K vs 35K). There is tremendous interest in CU and the competition for scholarships is fierce. Unfortunately, legacy does not matter.
Based on our experience, for in state students you need to be in the top 10% of your class, high gpa, high test scores if you want to sniff at a chance to get straight in. Many in state students that have been offered scholarships to other schools choose instead to go through the Bridge Program at Clemson. The Bridge program only takes 750 students, (invitations are limited) and last year the space was filled in a couple of days.
If dead set on Clemson have her establish residency so that she can get in-state tuition. Won't help with cost that 1st year. We have (2) at Clemson now (both through Bridge) and our oldest (got straight in) graduated in '14. Luckily we're in state.
Interesting statistics here: https://www.clemson.edu/admissions/undergraduate/documents/breakfast-presentation.pdf
Good luck to your daughter...and your wallet.

Nearly every kid that had Clemson aspirations last year from liberty and pickens high schools was bridged. I seriously believe Clemson is using bridge to satisfy there in-state acceptance rates, and a large number of my stepdaughters Bridge classmates are from the Charleston area as well. Yet I can be downtown and watch sorority girls from New Jersey and wonder how they got accepted straight in, because surely it wasn't academics
