Visit Muir Woods if you can or nearby San Mateo Park to see some big redwoods

Really? The government has shut down? I couldn’t tell! Seems we have a bunch of overpaid people for no reason!

Good point. However, San Mateo is a county park..so should be open.

You should never chalk up to conspiracy what you can reliably attribute to stupidity. Because stupidity is a much more powerful force in the course of human events.

Muir Woods is not in San Francisco. It is a National Monument located in Marin County. It's an old growth redwood forest with hiking trails that extend to the Pacific Ocean. There are no homeless people in Muir Woods.

Muir Woods is open during the government shutdown. Parking reservations are required.

It is definitely worth the time to visit and enjoy.
