Sandy and I are going to Levine Cancer Center, Main Campus in Charlotte on Monday afternoon to see if I am eligible to participate in a clinical trial regarding my Stage 4 lung cancer.
My new oncologist here in Gastonia brought my case up last week and the tumor committee thinks I may be a viable candidate for a clinical trial involving a study drug being used on humans for the first time. Frankly, I am excited to be considered, and KeyTruda has given me 9-10 more months than everyone thought I may have. The testing they have done on this drug, code name MK-7684 has shown much better results than initially expected.
One of the requirements is I had to be off all immuntheraphy and chemo for more than four weeks, and I have. The KeyTruda just couldn't keep up with the cancer and I've got 6-8 new small tumors in the left lung. I don't know a whole lot about this, but the info sheet says they can administer this ever three weeks for a total of 35 cycles(105 weeks).
I'll be hanging around TNet still, so if i put a burr in your britches, know it's in fun!

You never know when one of these trials will end up being the one to help cure ####### cancer. Went through the same thing you're going through with my dad until he just decided it was enough for him.

My dad has been trying the CBD oil, and his PSA numbers have dropped significantly, the spots that were on his lungs are now gone, and he's gained over 6 lbs (he hasn't gained weight in over 2 years). That's after 45 days in it. The oncologist was shocked.
Him and mom flew to Oregon where my aunt lives to do 90 days on the "Rick Simpson oil" in as heavy amount as he can tolerate. I'm excited to see the results!
I was a big skeptic, but after the 45 day mark, the results were undeniable. If this stuff helps at all, I'm going to be very vocal about it to every congressmen and senator I can get ahold of. It'll be hard to ignore a Marine with a mission.
My dad has stage 4 bone cancer, which came from prostate cancer that metastasized. It's in places other than the bone as well.
We'll see what happens.

I have been doing this also with the oils and feco. It’s nade tremendous results with my neuropathy and two spots on my lungs have shrunk by half. Of course my pulmonologist doesn’t belueve in this, but I do I have seen the results. I hope this works for your Dad.

Me again. If your dad wants to come home there are some that will send the CBD oils and the feco here to SC. If find out exactly what they are getting I can see if what they are taking can be sent by my guy. It comes from California . My # is 843-819-3102 Jean and I will go over all of it with you. God bless you friend. I lost my wife to lung cancer in 2014. She was categorized at Stage IV right out of the gate and it came from nowhere - she never smoked a day in her life. Traditional Platinum based chemo really didn't help her much. Her big break was when they discovered she was EGFR positive, so that opened up a targeted chemo named Tarceva. That medication gave us about 15 months more of "normal" life that I don't think we would have gotten without it. She passed about 4 years ago. It seems like the research keeps getting better and better each year and I hope you get the benefit of these new discoveries. If my wife had been diagnosed 5 years earlier, Tarceva likely would not have been an option and we would not have gotten all of that extra time. Prayers friend. I don't know you, but I know this challenging road all too well. I hope you will keep your head up and fight like crazy!

Keep up the fight. New treatments literally happen every day. My oldest brother was saved by a (then) experimental treatment, same one that saved President Carter. My brother had been told that his cancer had spread into his brain, and nothing more could be done, before having that treatment. The treatment stopped the cancer cold, and put him into remission. This was several years ago. So, hope is never lost.

I spend a lot of time at Levine as I am a clinical monitor for another oncology trial there. Although I don't' work on that specific lung cancer trial, I've worked on LC trails in the past and I do know that the site does an excellent job providing direction for their patients. Several of the principal investigators on the studies there do excellent work. You're in good hands! I'll definitely be praying for you.

Sorry to hear that you have that terrible C word, but I will pray for you. Just to let you know, I had the Hepatitis C virus, and the treatment at that time I had it was only at most 35-40% success rate of being cured, and that mostly depended on the Genotype of the Hep C that they had. My Gastroenterologists/Hepatologists Doctor/specialist on the Hepatitis C virus was also a member of Duke's research studies of the Hepatitis C virus. Duke at the time I was to have treatment, had a Blind study going with a new drug they had developed and added it with the older drugs searching for a cure for all Genotypes of the Hep C blood virus. At that time there wasn't a full proof treatment to cure the Hepatitis C virus. Long story short, my Gastroenterologists/Hepatologists Doctor got me in that Blind study, the study was a 6 month treatment for who ever volunteered to enter the study. At the end of my 6 months of treatment, my study records was opened and read, and I was told that my study record had shown that I had been cure of the virus after my first 3 weeks in the study. I was also told that they couldn't find a trace of the Hepatitis C virus anywhere hidden in any blood cells as the Hep C virus was good at hiding for years after contracting the disease. I have had several test done in the 10 years since, and all have been negative. And I had a test run about 6 months ago to check for my personal comfort, and it was negative also.
I wish you all the luck in the world with your study, and all the prayers that family, friends, and strangers want hurt any either, and I do believe in God, and I believe he hears our prayers for others and interveins when he doesn't have a specific purpose for you then and now. My brother in Law just had part of his lung remove this very morning with stage 1 of the C word, and he was lucky bc they found his bc he had a blood clot. I will be hoping and praying for you and a speedy recovery!!!

Listening to these words this way, I've ALWAYS KNOWN WHAT TO DO in any situation and I know what to expect. HE NEVER FAILS!!! ??

I have chronic myeloid leukemia and one of the first to try Gleevec. It worked and I have shown no signs of cml since 2012. Hope these meds do the same for you

Really just an inkling of how we feel for each other. I'm not worried about how much time I may have. I'm worried so much more for Sandy. Both our hearts and lives are right with the Lord, but her being possibly left alone downright has her terrified at times. She's expressed that to me, and I've told her our Family(both sides), Church Family, the WFC Family(Golf tournament), Tigernet, Levine Institute will be here for her IF I'm not around.
I have no idea how my earlier post made POTD. I've been on here 15+ years and your love, concern, and respect for not only us but many others is what makes may of our days so much more meaningful, and downright FUN!!!
Y'all know I don't take myself too seriously. Strick and B-Meist probably gonna cut my cut-N-paste capability sometime, and that's OK. Anytime I can do that and put that cockleburr under your saddle or rocks in the hubcaps, I'll do it just in fun.
