I bought TSLA at $300 per share, watched it drop to $190 and rebound to $430, where I sold it for a tidy little profit.
Today it is up $182.61 to $1,833.

I won't bore you with my woes investing in natural gas and oil futures. Made so many mistakes, I don't trade individual stocks any longer.

as a guide, I pay a small fee. The advantage is that at the end of the year I can sell stocks that lost money to offset gains and then rebalance in February. I buy individual bonds as well. I make sure to have at least 10-20 different bonds and 30-40 stocks to keep diversified. A couple of the bonds went "junk" on me this year due to covid, but we'll see.

I have so many accrued losses that many of my future gains won't be taxed. So, a win?
I'm mostly a Boglehead now. So simple, and less stress. I don't get mad if a stock drops. I don't get mad if I sell a winning stock too early.

I had 1000 shares of Apple in 1997 that I bought for $4 per share. I sold them because Apple wasnt doing much at the time. I might have sold them for 5 bucks max. I don't remember. I also bought a condo in Encinitas, California for 178k in 1998. I sold it for 278k two years later. I saw it listed for 1.2 million a few months ago. If I thought about all of my what could have beens I would vomit.

Plus having money invested elsewhere in the stock market gains, that $500k would have only been like $350k. Hope you feel better now.

I did use that money to buy shares of Bluestone Software though. Symbol. BLSW They were rated a strong buy and everyone on Squawk Box loved it. They went under maybe a couple years later.

Good catch. It has split 3 times since then.

One was 1-7 then two were 1-2. So actually 1000 shares then would be 28,000 shares now which would be worth 12.6 million dollars.
So now you can throw up Carlsbad.

I invested some money in a friends business

that was highly dependent on Apple tech. Ultimately my rate of return on that was negative 60%.
If I had invested the same money directly in Apple at the same time I'd have about 600K worth of Apple stock right now.
