God truly works in mysterious ways

We all wanted Clowney 3 years ago. Feeling blessed we did not get him. Not even sure how he would have qualified academically. He's a great player but not the mold & class that we are used to at Clemson. Proud of the great & classy guys & staff we have. Proud to be a Tiger!

Pass rush is the best way to fix a secondary.

so how do you feel about bellamy, Watkins, craig, and some others who have had problems? what was gods position in their plan? do you think you are really just looking at this from a Clemson fan position or do you really think we would not have taken clowney and have used him to make us better?

Well, in my house....there's something to be said for class & morals. Not just about the W's.
And I agree, unless he plays secondary....not that much difference. Look at his stats last season....not that good except against us & I blame that partly because we abandoned running it right at him. That one hit on a missed assignment made him a star. He did nothing else in bowl game.

Good, consistent pass rush helps out DB's tremendously

He provides that. I'm with you about the character stuff but saying he's not good is just delusional. His stats aren't out of this world because he is the only player you have to gameplan around on that defense. If there was a stat for how many sacks or TFL's he created because he had to be double teamed, I bet he would lead the country. All that being said, if Morris didn't abandon the gameplan I believe we win that game. He is a terrific pass rusher but subpar in the run game (a la Vic Beasley) and we played right into his game.

So... God was working for us, and against SoCar?
We took Bellamy in that same class and Clowney has outlasted him by a mile.

If you think God has anything to do with your football team.

then you may need to closely examine what you're getting out of religion. Furthermore, all of this talk about "character", give me a break. You just mad because he called your guy out, and will back it up again this year.

Somebody is not praying hard enough.
That said: I'd probably take Clowney TODAY if we could. We could wish that he was not as effective as he has been, but that's about all we can do. Clowney makes a difference. EVERYBODY in the entire country knows it. I'm not sure why any of us think differently about his abilities.
But - we just ignored Michael Dyer - excellent RB, so we have high morals and we will stick with that. CLEMSON is what we are - and we don't need to change that for a few wins.
