Go Clemson from an Irish fan

Jan 5, 2016, 7:11 PM

My family and I went to the ND game and our experience was a memory of a lifetime. The Clemson fans were outstanding and the southern hospitality was all that you hear it is. We didn't have a tent but a man named Owens invited us under his and we had a ball.

Now go beat Alabama!!!

Not the sandwich shop, Bill... here you go

Jan 5, 2016, 7:24 PM

The Subway Alumni are a group of Notre Dame Fighting Irish fans who are known for their strict allegiance to the school although never attending or graduating from the school. The group’s nickname originated when New York City area residents began traveling to early Notre Dame football games around the New York area by train. The largely Irish and Catholic population began to rally around the emerging mid-western school.[1]

In 1991, Notre Dame on NBC continued to increase and grow the size of the Subway Alumni when every Notre Dame football home game was televised nationally.

For the last nine decades, the Subway Alumni has grown through generation after generation. Although born in the New York City area,[2] the group quickly spread to Philadelphia,[3] Boston, Chicago and the rest of the country.

You're welcome.

You got it for the most part. The reason ND was forced to "barnstorm" NYC and the country and thus create subway alum was because Michigan barred NDs entry to the big 10 due to anti-Catholic bias. Rockne said nuts to that and created a national brand. I think that ND will join the ACC in football shortly so we'll come down again.

Btw we're Philly subway alum.

But you still bring sandwiches to the tailgate, right?***

Well, well..live & learn (Tom Clemson was a Philly Boy!)

Jan 5, 2016, 7:39 PM

Did they have Philly Cheese Steaks back in the early to mid 1800's?!

Just saying, Tom had good taste when he married John C Calhoun's Daughter and picked uP the Farm (called Fort Hill) through that good marriage..and thus CLEMSON A&M College in 1889!

Time flies, doesn't it?!

Go#1CLEMSONTiGERS!
