I am sending a letter nominating Lou Cordileone for the HOF, and I don't understand why he was not selected long ago. This omission should not be ignored any longer.

He was Clemson's only true All American FB player of the late 1950s, essentially the William Perry of his era. We old timers remember him making life miserable for LSU super star Billy Cannon in the 1959 Sugar Bowl. Every time LSU ran a sweep, Cordileone was on Cannon's back. I think he had 3 TFLs against Cannon.

He was an All American tackle in 1959 and handled TCU great Bob Lilly in the Blue Bonnet Bowl. Big Lou was the MVP of the East-West Shrine Game and sacked Johnny Unitas twice in the College Allstar Game.

He was also the starting rightfielder on Clemson's 1959 CWS baseball team.

I saw Cordileone play many games, and he was such a dominate tiger. I have no idea why he has been overlooked for so long while most of his starting teammates are in the HOF.

It is way past time for this thing to be corrected.

They represented the University in exemplary fashion and possessed a work ethic that contributed significantly to bagging various athletes.
